I'm still really confused how a positionally aware player opens 88 BTN -5 with at least 1 semi decent player behind him at a 9 handed table. Or opens and calls T9dd.

Your decision should be on the turn, not the river.
If you call his raise on the turn you have to snap call non-diamond rivers when he shoves.
But as described you should probably fold turn, doesn't look like he's raising you without a boat.

Ace on the river woulda been siiiiick.

Gross spot. If I was playing really well I'd just fold on the turn. def folding river vs competent player.

why such a small flop bet on this type of board ? (fairly dynamic) sc that is w/ widely gaped single high card.

did you consider pot geometry through out?

why did you flat the turn if you are going to fold to a obvious river Jam spot?
