Don't post here often but managed to make it to a live low stakes cash game yesterday and was curious on my line and what peoples takes were. I think I played well but whatever, obviously could have folded river but eh

Stakes: Live 1/2 NLHE

Hand:

Hero has just over 300 to start hand and Villain covers, don't have much info on Villain other than that he has played relatively loose passive and is splashing around quite a bit

Hero is on the button with AA

Action: Villain opens for $12 in the HJ and I make it $35 more to go with AA, Villain flats and flop comes 8 4 2 he checks I c-bet $45 and he flats. Turn is a 3 he checks and I bet $100 and he snaps. River is an A and he puts me all in for my last hundred. I call off and he turns over 55. Did I play this wrong? Should I have shipped the turn? Please any thoughts I would appreciate it, thank you

You played it fine. Shoving turn would have been too aggressive, you only get called by villains who already have you beat. Once you hit top set on river you can't fold for a less then pot sized bet. Villain is unlikely to be bluffing on river, but the chance of villain having a smaller set is probably higher then their chance of having a straight. This is a straight forward cooler.

If he has a fold button, think you played it fine. Given the opponent descript, your sizing could be larger if you think he'll call more. Betting near pot OTF sets up < PSB OTT.

You got max value on your trips and got unlucky?
You mean you can actually lose with AA in this game?

Your line's fine. Variance.

This. Nothing to comment on. You b/b/call shove with top set. It happens, you play was fine.

I probably size flop and turn bigger. Seems mostly okay.

I would have liked to bet bigger OTF so I could shove the turn without it being an over bet.
As played you could have shoved the turn for $208 into a $184 pot.
OTF if you had bet $60 into the ~$90 pot instead of $45, then you could have shoved for $193 into a pot of $214.
With the pot so bloated preflop, I am trying to get all the money in by the turn.
