So I don't typically play a whole lot of 1,2 anymore but decided to play it for a more relaxed game tonight. I hadn't really been calling a ton with marginal hands because in this 1,2 game its typically alot harder to make moves that will get people to fold and we weren't super deep so J9 is on the loose side for me playing at 1,2. Anyways I got bored and was UTG with J9 and limped in..I know first mistake. Got limped around to small blind who made it 8, BB calls so I say f@#$ it and call because the rest of the limpers probably will as it's 1,2 and we wind up about 5 ways to the flop. Flop is 8 10 K I'm about 350 effective. Small blind (doesn't get super agrro without a really good hand) leads out (270~ remaining) for 15, BB calls, and I make it 55, hoping that they'd just fold or flat at worst. I had an open ended straight plus flush draw plus gutter to the straight flush. All the other limpers fold to SB who 4bets it 155 BB then folds. I pretty quickly call the extra 100. Turn 4 and SB sticks it in for his remaining 85~ bucks obviously I snap with the flush. SB shows K 10 off for top two. My question is do you guys find it worth while to 3 bet flops like this in 1,2 and what do you think about flatting the 4bet there? I had approx 16outs or 64% so I don't think I could've really folded there. I debated a 5 bet but SB didn't have enough behind to find a fold. What is your opinion on the hand in general?

UTG limp is bad, which you already know. I call the raise as played.

I probably don't raise SB in position OTF because we have a great hand and I don't mind more action. But raising can't be a huge mistake.

As played stick it in OTF because you have great equity and outs against absolutely anything.

It's actually not terrible limping this hand UTG in a weak passive 1/2 game. I don't mind it.

I like raising the flop when we have a strong combo draw with a lot of equity but very little SDV. I would definitely size bigger on the flop though. I'm looking to make a pot-sized raise, so with $40 in the pot, a bet of $15 and a caller, I'm looking to raise it up to about $80 and jam the rest in OTT.

As played, facing the 3bet on the flop (this is not a 4bet as you labelled it), it makes almost no difference whether you flat or jam here, since you're always calling a turn jam regardless of what the card is. I guess flatting in position is marginally better, but it really doesn't matter that much.

Well played overall.

Thanks, I figured flatting the 15 OTF would have been a bad play because 1. I had pretty much 0 SDV 2. It'd turn my hand alot more fave up if I did hit it and 3. I figured I had a pretty good amount of fold equity until the reraise to 150 obviously at that point the fold equity went out the window lol.

Don't limp this UTG.

With these stack sizes, after SB villain raises to only 8, BB calls and we are closing the action in position with a hand that plays well postflop, folding is no longer an option. Either raise to 25 or flat call.

As played, on the flop the raise size is too small. We want them to be able to fold AK or for all the chips to go in. By raising a $15 bet and call to only 55, we give him the option of calling, letting a non-club peel then leading the turn. Make it at least 70 and put him to a decision (a pot sized raise would be 75).

As played, when he raises to 155, I would just ship it -
mainly for metagame reasons (its okay for them to know that if you raise, you intend for all the chips to go in) but also just in case he can fold on a club turn and just in case he was doing this with air and decides to muck his hand (unlikely I know).

You had 15 outs (54.1% equity).

Flat-calling as a variation is fine. Especially if we have a spewy image which will help us get paid if we hit.

But raisong gives us fold equity and if we want to get paid when we hit a set, its not a bad thing for them to see we can play monster draws aggressively.

It's good if it's the most passive game ever, we are deep and we get paid off like a MF-er because the table is so bad.

Here it is terrible. We don't have position, we don't have a good hand and we are not deep. I guess if OP can soul read the rest of the table and just cut them up with ATC OK fine, but that wasn't stated.

I'm not defending the limp here, I even say it's bad in like the first 2 sentences of the post however this table was generally pretty passive with a bunch of limp callers which is how I knew atleast 5 people were gonna call the 8 buck raise. The SB, who is also clueless about bet sizing, is the type to bet another 8 on the flop with 40 in the pot and doesnt barrel much so I figured I'd just take a flop and it wouldnt have been hard to outplay from there as every bluff I made got through with the exception of 1. That pot was definitely the most action OTF the table had seen in about 6 hours.
