LoL @ needing to fight for $97 in dead money. Whose hourly at 2/5 is such that $97 is not significant?

That being said, there is no need to wait for AK. If 3 players are likely to fold and the player with any 2 cards is likely to call then theoretically shoving here with any 2 cards is profitable...DUCY? That was simply the last hand that I remember where I open limped shoved because it literally just happened. However, there are other recent hands where I over limped shoved for 100bbs with 88 (everyone folded) and JJ (full double + dead money vs probably underpair).

The games I play in often tend to be 3bet heavy, so I could do the same with an $800 stack. I limp, player 1 raises to $30, player 2 lag re-raises $130, player 3 call, player 4 calls, etc.

It's a little mystifying that players are just learning about the limp raise now when it was being done by pros in 5/T games 10 years ago. It can be done both for value and as a bluff. It can make a lot of sense in games where stack depths are particularly low or particularly high and in games where players are very aggressive and/or loose.

A fun one I had a few months ago:

Hero ($1200) had 88 on the button in a 5/T game. $20 straddle was on.

Player A limped $20, Player B Limped $20, I limped button $20, SB folds, BB (lag pro that plays much bigger) makes it $200. Straddle calls $200. Player A calls $200. Player B calls $200. I jam for $1200. BB overjams for infinite $s to isolate. Everyone folds.

We run it twice. The first runout was AKQJ2, 2nd runout was low. I show 88 and scoop. BB shows an 8.

I stand corrected. OP, do more of this type of stuff.

LOL, that's a little exciting for my blood.

I haven't been able to play recently, but I'm going to trial this when I play NLH and see how it goes.

As to the point about dead money, I have played at a bunch of tables where a raise + several calls is very likely to be squeezed, so I think people are definitely paying attention.

This isn't really the scenario the OP is talking about. You're right, fun hand tho! Limp Reraising against people who like to 3 bet?
