Hero IN MP: Stack size about $900, recently won an allin hand AA vs KK preflop, TAG style, calls down in position, solid reg, age 40 or so.

Villain on BUTTON: 21-year old, Tag, plays position well, hasn't lost a hand at showdown, somewhat loose, stack size around $550 to start.

Before the start of the hand, 3 new players posted big blind so there was already $9 dead money in there pre-flop.

Action: Call, Call, Hero Raises to $25 with KQ, folds to Villain who flats, Button Calls, another MP reg calls. Pot: $115 or so

FLOP: 10JJ

Checks, Checks, Hero Bets $55, Villains falts $55, fold, fold POT: $225

TURN: A

Hero Checks, Villain Bets $100, Hero Calls. POT: $425

RIVER: K

Hero Checks, Villains Bets $375 and is all-in. HERO?

Why did you bet the flop? Why $55 into $115? Fold river as played, you beat nothing and chop with JQ.

This should be a pretty straightforward hand counting spot. He never has worse than broadways here.

Hands that beat us:

AA - 3 combos
KK - 1
QQ - 1.5 (3 total but half goes into the loss column and half in the win)
JJ - 1
TT - 3
AJ - 6
KJ - 4
TJ - 6
KQ - 3 (the other three go in the win column)
JQ - 3 (ditto)

Total: 31.5

Hands we beat (that is, half of those chopped hands):

QQ - 1.5
KQ - 3
JQ - 3

Total: 7.5

Just look at how weak chopping is.

So we need better than 4:1 odds to call here, an we aren't even considering that he probably plays straights more carefully, which makes it worse. We are getting ~3:1 odds on our call. I didn't double check but even if I made an error somewhere this is a clear clear fold.

Your line makes me sad.

You bet the flop I presume because you think that you have fold equity, combined with your equity in the hand, gives you a positive expectation.
Ok, that can be cool.

I'd likely bet it harder, to like $75 if I want to bet, but whatever.

But why are we checking the turn?
What is your plan?

Are you checking for deception? For pot control? For show down value? To induce? So you can check/jam against an agro spewbox who will call you down here with JX 100% of the tie if you check/jam?

It just feel like you bought an 'easy' button from staples, painted over it to say 'wtf am I doing' and then just clicked it over and over again.

I also don't like your sizing pre flop, but that's just me. I'd would have gone $35.

I would have played it like this
$35 pre flop, get 3 callers.
Bet $105 on the flop into $140.
Get one caller, pot is $350 on the turn, he has $400 left, so I'd bet like $255 and hope he jams with Jx and the gutter ball.

And if he doesn't, then well, the river still sucks, but I likely stick it in as at that point I'm getting like 7:1 on call, and we can't really fold.
