I was playing last night in AZ for the first time at the wild horse pass casino. It was my first experience playing spread limit. It was a learning experience. I didn’t realize the max buy-ins were so high relative to the blinds. For example, the 2/3 game with a 300 max bet had had a max buy in of 1500. Which of course I didn’t realize for the first hour I played until a new player sat down with a K. I’m sure if the regs thought I was a bit of a fish when I screwed up the Mississippi straddle a couple times and was totally confused when the SB left and I had to post SB on the BTN. All things foreign to this east coast reg.

The table had one or two live ones and several regs who may have been pros. I’ve been sitting for 4 or 5 hours which 4ish of the same players. Early in the session was a lot of hero call. Several huge pots were won by A high or bottom pair. Seeing that I decided I would remove some weaker bluffs from my strategy, and bluff in position and give up earlier. While also being sure to bet more with showdown able hands. (Other adjustments?)

This dynamic ended after a couple hours as the players who were doing it left. We had been at least 2 hours without a hero call.

I haven’t played many hands. Every time I’ve showed down I’ve had it. Though, in retrospect, the biggest hand I played was a combo draw I played very fast that got there. We are 800 effective, I cover main V who was a regular on my left who had position on me and had 3bet me rather liberally preflop. I wasn’t defending aggressively since I had the bottom portion of my range every single time, which I eventually adjusted to by tightening up. Which makes me want to throw up in my mouth.

It folds to me in the HJ which was unusual as normally lots of limping by players to my right.

Is this a PAHWM post?

It's a glut of information for a simple preflop/flop spot.

I would open smaller preflop. $10-$12 seems sufficient imo.

As played pre, bet flop $17 again. Probably planning to flatting a check raise.

Bet 1/2-2/3 pot most of the time, c/c sometimes, c/r sometimes....depends on V. $17 pre seems a bit large for KQo with no limpers.

Opponent seems aggressive, so I'd C/C.
