If he can fold to 3bets, he can certainly fold to 4bets, this implies some big aces, most broadways and mid pockets may fold to a ship whereas if we flat and he catches a top pair hand or a draw, he's more committed to stacking off.
Points for shipping pre:
- Villain seems somewhat wild
- We are short, making a call more likely
- We are OOP
Points against shipping pre:
- Villain can fold
- We're short enough that stacks can go in easily in a 3bet pot
- Sounds like villain is aggressive until we play back, meaning it's more likely he will barrel light if he sense 'weakness'
I don't think either option is horrible. My impression is that flatting is probably better but this guy has to call with worse to a ship and of course, it's easier to play it that way.
