Kk on button. Villain checks dark

I had Kk button against unknown but villain has shown he will call a big bet pre & post. I have been at the table for 45min ish, haven't really played a hand yet.
Otth:100bb effective
Villain opens under utg for 8$ (which is small for this game) two mp callers. I have KK on the btn make it 40$. Villain calls petty quickly other two fold. Villain says check in the dark.
Flop A63r
I bet 58$ not wanting to give a free card to a set because I was making a big part of his range a pp,with the check in the dark & small open. He just calls
Turn was 8 he ships, I fold. He shows an Ace
My question is should I have checked back the flop because this is a way ahead way behind situation? Probably couldn't get more then one street of value from worse?

Checking in the dark means = I'm just trying to fk with you psychologically and pretend that im weak.
Don't buy into that bull sht almost everyone as the PFC in NL hold'em x to the PFR on MOST board textures anyways.
Really bad bet OTF, pretty standard x and call turn and prolly fold to a river bet if he 2 barrels both turn + river.

Flop bet is horrendous. Check back.

Whenever you bet, ask yourself whether you are betting for value (to get worse to call) or as a bluff (to get better to fold). In this case, your bet serves neither purpose, which is a good indication that you should be checking behind on this flop.

The advantage of taking a checkback/call turn/ probably fold river line is to extract an extra bet when you have the best hand.
Since he had you beat - you probably lost the same with your bet flop/fold turn as you would have the other way. But if you were ahead you will be more likely to get a call OTT than OTF.

When it's head up, and villain says "I check dark," I always respond by betting dark.

- Don't state results.
- x/b flop, go for one street of value with your nut bluffcatcher.
