KK 3! pot against fun Indian player KK 3! pot against fun Indian player

Hi all,

2/5. V1 is regular pro. V2/BB is fun Indian player. Has made some pretty bad calls in the past. He once called my $30 cbet on K-7-2r with QJo because, as he said, "ever heard of runner-runner?" Hero playing $450 (effective).

V1 raises CO $15, hero 3! red KK $60 OTB, V2 cold calls in BB, CO calls. (I actually 3! smaller than usual this hand. Normally I'd make it $75 here against this V but I wasn't too deep so $60 was enough to get a low enough SPR and deny mining odds.)

Flop ($175): Qc-Tc-2s. Not particularly loving this flop for BB's reasonable cold calling range (I'd imagine a lot of TT+). V2 donks $110, CO folds, hero calls with $280 remaining behind.

Turn ($295): Js. V2 now checks, hero? Thinking sets would still be happy to jam this turn, maybe V got scared with AQ or has a draw? Thoughts on all streets welcomed.

Thanks,
DT

Ship flop= print money

You said it yourself that you got a nice low SPR with the 3 bet sizing you choose: now follow up with the flop shove and get this fun indian guy to call it off with all sorts of inferior holdings that he was buttonclicking the flop with.

Fun player who has historically made pretty bad calls, or reasonable cold calling range preflop? I find it difficult for both to be true, so I'm leaning toward the former. Therefore, shove the flop.

Shove turn. We should reasonably expect his better hands to bet/shove turn at a high frequency with the draws out. There's still a lot of potential worse hands to call us as well, like AQ/KQ, draws, maybe some really random stuff.

Edit: Also your pot size math is messed up. There is $395 in the pot on the turn (175 + 110 + 110)

This hand is really straightforward and a fist pump flop jam. You have an overpair on a wet board, an SPR of 2.2x and some idiot that just donked into you. Also raising to $75 over a $15 open would be ******ed.

We of course wouldn’t be seeing this hand if you won it, and if you somehow did win, we shouldn’t be seeing it anyway. It’s as routine as it gets. You’re of course allowed to post, but your takeaway shouldn’t be strategy related, but rather the understanding that an OP against fun players with small stacks is printing (as stated above) and is of zero consequence when you have enough 2/5 hours under your belt.

I shipped it ott. Just wanted to eliminate any doubt that I misplayed it somehow. I was pretty sure this hand played itself against this V. Just a cooler that I lost.

I ship, V tanks and says “you chased your gutshot with AK? I bet $110! Ok I call.” V had QTdd.

Okay, I feel like everyone's time has been wasted here. Well done.

I wouldn't call it a cooler. KK is going to lose against this hand almost 20% of the time.

The problem I see here is your analysis of the villain. He is a "fun" player and makes bad plays.

How does this help us analyze the situation? Is he passive? aggressive? straightforward? pushing hard with draws? overbetting/pot sized betting with top pair because he is scared? a thinking player? only playing his cards?

These types of questions/labels will help us and you get better at poker.
