1/3. V is player from 2/5 game that broke. V is 30 y/o Asian guy, covers the table. Has raised four hands in 45 minutes or so. One hand he raised from MP, got one BTN caller, triple barreled a Q-6-3-J-2 board with 76 and lost to Q7.

Four limpers and V makes it $25 on BTN. Hero ($225) has JJ in SB and flats (...). All limpers call. Pot $143.

Flop: 10-8s-4s. Hero checks, short stack jams $16, V raises to $85. Hero?

Thanks,
DT

Flatting JJ out of the SB vs an aggro OTB is a losing proposition. JJ fits well into your merged 3! value range. Use KK+ or AK as traps instead.

AP, given your read and how you are playing it, you have to basically blindly call down now. This guy has shown he is a maniac barreller w/ no give up range

Pretty hard for JJ in a 6-way raised pot to be a losing proposition. That said, I probably 3! here too, unless we're too deep to stack off with the hand. Don't want to 3! and fold.

You’ve got like 70 BB’s. Just 3bet pre and shove the flop.

3! looks like best option, you are ahead of his button opening range

This hand bothered me because what you all have said certainly crossed my mind (both 3! pre and shipping it otf). In the end, I didn't do either because I was playing scared money believe it or not.... Yes, $225 deep and scared! I had suffered a pretty big loss the previous Saturday and was still digging out of that hole.

Plus this night was also Saturday night, my worst night for poker, and I just wanted to eek out a decent win for once. I was up $100 when this hand happened and I didn't want to risk losing it all. I figured with his large opening size ($25) and raise otf, QQ+ AKss were in his range, so I tank folded....

On an T-4s-8s-Ah-5s runout V mucked and the shorty showed 98o for the win.

You need to take a break from poker, your mindset is annihilated

They won't admit it, OP, but at one point or another, we've all been scared money. I understand.

That being said, maybe take some time to get in the right mindset before you play. One of my favorite books about this is "Peak Poker Performance". Definitely worth a read.

One thing that helps me is to remember that the money on the table doesn't belong to me until I leave. Before I stand up, it belongs to the game.

AP Shove flop winking at villain.

With this aggro raiser going after all the limper's money and this relatively short of stack (we're definitely not deep here), I'd probably just 3bet to $75 to setup a PSB shove on most flops. If we're flatting (which I don't despise) we're pretty much just setmining.

I think I'd mostly just fold here as played, although it might depend if we're the only guy left to react or there are others still. If there are others still, then much easier fold. Otherwise, it's possible he's trying to isolate the shortstack all-in with a mediocre hand and we could lean towards a call.
