1/2 club game

V1 is new to game. 30-ish orthodox jew. My default read on Orthodox Jews is spewy, bluffs fish but this guy hasn't demonstrated that yet. Bought in for 400. Been here about 30 minutes and hasn't played a big pot yet or opened.

V2 - TAG reg who can spew

V3 - loose player who overvalues hand

H - 36 year old white reg in this game. Haven't done anything of note since V1 sat down.

V1 (400) UTG raises to 15.
V2 (covers) and V3 (350) call from MP.
H (400) has JJ on button and calls.

Multiway I would often 3-bet here but didn't love 3-betting V1 given this was his first open and he's UTG. Stacks are pretty deep and i have position.

Flop (60) T73r - V1 bets 25, folds to H who calls.
Turn (110) 5 putting a spade draw out. V1 bets 50, H calls.
River (210) 2 eliminating flush. V1 bets 75, H calls.

Thoughts? My questions are whether I should 3-bet or call pre, whether I should be raising at any point post-flop and whether I should fold to the turn bet. Once I call turn I need to call blank rivers.

I have no problem at all playing this way... Obv, we're not at all surprised to see QQ+ OTR - but with so little time to go on - we know we could also see AT or AK sometimes.

In fact OTR, I'm not really liking our hand - but odds are just too good.

The trouble with raising flop/turn or river - is that it will just stop him from continuing with a worse hand... With position - it just seems better to let him keep betting.

Your line is fine post flop. I'd still 3bet pre. Going 4 ways seems like were playing JJ to set-mine. First, I want to get rid of any overcards V2&3 would have. Secondly, 30 minutes in, UTG has only seen a maximum of 15 hands. Likely less if this is a club game w/out auto-shufflers. This isn't enough info to label him a nit or anything of that sort. By flatting pre, you're saying you want to play this hand 4-way where most flops will have an over that someone likely connected with.

Yes, once I flat I'm playing JJ as a medium pair, and looking to set-mine or use my position to play a small pot on good run outs.

JJ is really on the cusp for me to 3-bet here. I'd definitely 3-bet QQ, and generally wouldn't 3-bet TT. The main things that lead me to flat were the fact that I'd have position and the fact that V1 seemed pretty tight. If I was in SB rather than OTB I probably 3-bet, and not sure flatting is the right play here.

I think you played it fine.

I can go either way pre-flop -- call or 3bet. However, you'd have to make the 3bet pretty big (at least $60 with callers), and if V1 flats and the others come along, you could be in pretty big trouble post if any over-card hits -- or V1 gets sticky with QQ/KK.

Looks great. I would not 3! pre to an UTG raise and 2 callers. Use your position to your advantage. You're plenty deep enough to setmine and you have a solid starting hand.

Calling down with a weak overpair to <1/2 PSBs is a good plan, imo. Low stakes villains easily overplay AK here as a bluff. Obviously some reads on his betting patterns would be very useful. 30 min isn't enough of a read to get me to dump JJ.

Results - V shows AT and I take down a big pot.

V also didn't open another hand for the rest of the night (2-3 hours). Seemed crazy that the best hand he thought he had to open all night was AT from UTG (forget if it was suited or not). My note on him is that he's not positionally aware, as if AT is in his UTG raising range he should have opened plenty of hands from late position. Also that he overvalues top pair.
