Table is mostly a mix of tight passive and loose passive players.

Hero ($300): I've been playing pretty tight the whole time. The only hands I raised pre were AQ o/s in the BB to $16 when it got limped to me and KK in the SB to $16 right after when it got limped around again. Other than that, I've been pretty card dead and I've just been sitting back picking up reads and trying to pick good spots.

Villain ($~180): Seemed like a rec-reg. He was talking about playing in the tournament (Sands 100k guarantee) with his neighbor and was talking to another player at another table, so it seemed like he frequented the room. He wasn't playing passively as the other players, but he wasn't playing overly aggressive either. I haven't seen him play too many hands and seemed pretty straight up.

I have JJ in the BB. Villain is in hijack.

4 Limpers to me, I make it $16 in the BB. Villain flats, button flats.

Flop: 667

Hero leads for $30, villain minraises $60, button folds. Hero?

FWIW he insta-raised me and I didn't think it was indicative of him being that strong. Problem is, I'm OOP and prob lot's of turn cards that can kill the action.

Most likely a sigh fold, counterfeited jacks.

Did Villain open limp?

Anyway, I'm OK shipping here against a range that includes a ton of draws, a few smaller overpairs, and some hands that have us crushed.

I like your sizing the entire way. Now jam. There's only 2 combos of 67s left, a few combos or 6x and 77 for top boat prolly won't min raise. I'm ok getting it in against the range jaydreb mentioned.

Raise more preflop. $16 would be good from the button, but I like a bit more out of the blinds. $22-$24.

As played, he never has QQ+, so it comes down to whether you think this villain would/could do this with 88-TT, or a draw, or a naked 7.

against some villains, this is a snap fold, against some, it's a shove. Really tough to say with the limited information we have.

It would be easy to add enough combos to villain's range to make this a clear shove, but I don't know if Villain would minraise his entire range in this spot.

The dreaded min raise, could mean anything. I don't think I can fold here as played. Villain can easily have a 6 though.

My, what a helpful stray post. no shyt Sherlock he could have a 6.

OP, villains will raise for information with mid pairs or 7x in this spot sometimes. Whether you think this particular guy is doing this is hard to say without being there. I call the min raise.

That's what I was thinking as well masaraksh...I was thinking of how I can get more value if that were to be the case, but considering I was OOP, I wasn't sure if calling would leave me in a spot that would cost me money vs a shove. I just didn't think he would give me a lot of action if a scare card fell on the turn for him. So my decision came down to shove or call and I wasn't sure which action would be best.

I don't think calling is bad especially is the read is the villain can have a lot of worse hands that are raising for "information" and "to get to showdown".

By shoving you are just saying I don't want to fold and make any more decisions in this hand. Shoving also pretty much kills any chance for any more value from hands you beat.

i like a call here

Just push here, he will most probably call you with all draws, 88, 99 and maybe even A7 kind of stuff as he only would have $104 left and a $212 in front of him.

I would push here. He would still have around 100 left if he folded. If he has flopped a boat If he has a draw he calls. If he has top pair it's likely he folds. I'm confident you're ahead.

In before nits gonna nit

I'm in the call camp here. I think we lead turn on any non Heart/5/10 turns. I think this is a more read dependent spot, but from bet sizing I would put V on more likely drawing hands, rather than made ones. He doesn't get out of line, and it is a good line that V would take if he were drawing. I'm confident JJ are ahead, but i think shoving doesn't give you more value, especially on the turn.

Those in the call camp, you realize if he's rasing to see where he's at with a marginal pair there are a ton of action killers on the turn? He probably won't even fold a draw because he's "pot commited" at this point.

Rec players at these stakes are raise/folding otf with this stack size very rarely.

Just shove.
