I read his on Johnnie Vibes poker squad on facebook so it was not me. It has gotten some heated arguments from the OP and a few of the readers. I do not want to get into heated debates but I think the Hero played the hand bad. I also understand and agree with both sides of the debate but I think the Hero tried to play the hand too fancy and got himself in a very difficult situation, but I may be wrong.

Here we go. Again not me.

****ing vomit spot from 5/5 NLHE yesterday.

So 5/5, 3.7k eff. 7 handed and V in hand happens to be an extremely competent player I have some history with.

I’m in the HJ with KK and raise to 25. CO calls, BTN (V) makes it 125. I 4-bet to 425, CO folds and BTN calls. (885)

Flop KQ7. I bet 300, he calls. (1485)

Turn A. I check and he checks back.

River is an A. I bet 500, he jams on us for 2,975 total. (Need to call 2475 to win 4,960 for the guys who can’t add).

What do we do?

In a 4-bet pot I really don't see KK being all that strong here where AQ+ makes up a huge part of his range. I know a competent player has to have at least some bluffs, but I don't even know what that would look like here. QJs??? JJ?? Would he turn an Ax into a bluff this way? Does he ever have a weak ace here?

Whether to call or not really comes down to whether V can ever be value betting worse. I mean, your 4! value range is probably AQs+/QQ+, and he is saying he can beat that range. Would he shove QQ here? If so, I think you can call it off. If not, I'm puke folding this.

I don't like your line though. I think bet/check/bet on this runout is really fishy. I'd just bet/bet/bet. Or check the flop. I'd also size up the flop bet on this board, looking to go between 1/2 and 2/3 pot on this wetter dynamic board.

If I did get to the river this way, I'd go much bigger. $1200 at least. I don't like the small bet in this spot.

I'll let this go a bit, but I'm very close to closing it. Posting results (the poll tells us that Hero folded" and a non-value added poll (V has a range here and differentiating the trips really doesn't help anything) are both problematic.

Also, we don't know anything about the referenced history, and the pot is extremely deep, both of which make forum reads very dicey.

The poll does say he folded but the question was did he make the correct lay down. And what do you think the Villain had.

Again not me.

Yes, but folding is a result. Posting results always biases replies. Also, since it's not you, you can't tell us anything about the V or the history, or even about hero's table image.

I think this is a good hand worth analysis (I think hero played it poorly postflop) but the poll is silly. Trying to predict the exact hands V has here is a pointless exercise.

edit: And while folding is a result, it's at least the result least likely to bias responses, as opposed to telling us what V had here.

How is Hero folding a result? It provides no additional information beyond what was already given.

Have no idea why he checked turn. Also think river bet is bad. Fold seems pretty trivial. Hero 4bet preflop and is uncapped, he is extremely likely to have a boat here and will frequently have the nuts, V trying a bluff would be crazy.
