I think I messed up the turn? I think I messed up the turn?

9 handed table, $1/$2/$3

Hero (SB): $300.00

BB:XXX

UTG: $1200.00 - Loose fish, almost always raises top pair, and holds on to them. Opens wide.

BTN : $600.00 - Thinking player, has been caught bluffing rivers.

Hero (SB): $600.00 - LAG image, 3-betting light and with larger sizings to steal a bunch. Thinking player was recently caught bluffing by Hero.

Pre Flop: ($5.00) Hero is SB with J J

UTG raises to $20.00 folds to BTN who re-raises to $75.00. Hero calls. UTG calls.

Flop: ($230.00) A 6 7 (3 players)

Hero checks, UTG checks, BTN bets $75. I re-raise $175. UTG folds. BTN calls.

Turn: ($575.00) 9 (2 players)

Hero checks, BTN checks.

River: ($575.00) 3 (2 players)

Hero checks, BTN bets $160.00, Hero shoves $350.

UTG raising is pretty weak. He’s shown before that he would do so with K7o. CO knows this. CO has been re-raising frequently to isolate UTG to success. I call with JJ to hopefully give UTG a good price to call and because I think that I am ahead of CO as well. I’m not sure whether I was supposed to raise on the flop here to get one less player involved in the hand or not. But anyways, I call, and UTG calls like planned.

On the flop, I check. UTG checks, which pretty much guarantees he doesn’t have an ace. Everytime he has hit top pair he would always bet in this position. I’m assuming CO knows this too, so when he bets, ⅓ pot, I’m assuming he is simply doing so to kick out hands that missed. At this point I think his range is something like A9+, and 55 - TT. I’m not sure raising here was a good idea. Well, I was certain if I had just called, UTG could very well call. So I raise, and UTG does fold. CO calls. At this point I feel like he has a weak ace. But I’m not too sure.

On the turn, I check again, and CO checks. At this point him having a weak ace makes sense to me.

On the river, I’m really hoping for a showdown. Then he makes a less than ⅓ pot bet. Now I feel like he has an ace, but a weak one. I can’t beat him in showdown, unless he has 88, 55 or TT. So I shove, hoping to make his AX hands fold by representing an AX hand that’s better than his or a set.

I feel like if I had bet the turn, I could have done a better job at river. I also feel like after my blunder at the turn, shoving river before checking would be the best.

Calling that much of your stack preflop is not good. Either fold or jam. Given player descriptions, jam.

Edit: your stack sizes are all ****ed up

Shove flop. Rest of the hand takes care of itself.

Why are we jamming here with 2nd pair and only 2 outs vs the aggressor in a 3-bet pot

If you believe btn is 3b isoing wide then 4b pre
With this stack size calling OOP is not going to end well
postflop you seem to be clicking buttons
If you are aggressive with air at least continue to tell the story but imo a lot of spew

with a LAG image and perceived wide ranges in front of you, 4betting makes sense , sounds like you might get action from a worse hand from the button

I think folding here is fine as well with the right read, how often does he 3b?

A high flop .. multi-way.. in a 3b pot... I'm not really gonna get frisky here .. better spots than this for sure

Badbadbad idea.

Op stated above that villain plays top pair like the nuts. Guess what. Villain has top pair. You did not play pf like you had an A with a good kicker. If you wanted to get all-in, it should have been pf, not once an A hit otf.

Call flop, fold to additional bets.
