How to play against a flush draw otf? How to play against a flush draw otf?

Is there a particular bet sizing you should be using against a flush draw on the flop?

Just a made up example but say:

NL 2/3 100-500 (effective stack 550)

Hero has KhQd UTG raises to 15. 2 callers one LAG in CO one TAG on Button.

Flop ($60) Ks 8s 4c

Hero? What is the appropriate bet size having regards to odds of hitting the flush? Do you want them to call or fold?

55-65% is ok imo 4-way. really shouldn't be better that much bigger since it'll just condense ranges to the point where you're not doing too well vs continuing ranges, and please just don't copy bet sizes and use 1/3 here 4-way....

I think we can size up/overbet flop with the virtual nuts. What hands do we fold out by betting large OTF that would call a small bet? Are we that afraid of 3 combos of K8s?

V's are inelastic and most wide OTF and calling with any fd, gutshot, or Kx, so why not go for max value now?

The way you want to play your whole range in this spot is to bet small though. If you think you can just max exploit and size large when you have top pair and small when you have nothing then go nuts, but I think you'll end up getting counter-exploited doing that.

$30 to $40 is good. It gives the FD about 2:1 to call. Lots of LLSNL players "know" that they are 2:1 to hit a flush on the flop, but forget that means seeing 2 cards for that price.

And of course, you want someone behind to call your bets. That's where the real money is made in poker. Make people chase you at poor odds.

If we bet $40 that would give them immediate pot odds of 2.5:1 right? (Pot 60 + bet 40)/40 = 2.5:1. And they are about a 1.7:1 chance to hit the flop by the river. Wouldn’t that be giving them reasonable odds for calling with their flush drawing?

I trivially muck KQo at quite a lot of positions at the table, UTG being the trivialist.

SPR is 9 so there is some room to play. Against passive ABC straight-forward players (which the TAG on the Button may be) then we could perhaps lean to some small 1/2 PSB bet/folds. We'll be giving 3:1 to chase a 4:1 flush draw on each street, but that's the best draw they can possibly have, and we'll likely be able to check/fold against straightforward opponents if the draw comes in. The smaller bets also limit our losses when crushed / running into dominating hands (which an UTG raise with KQ will often do).

However, with a LAG in the hand who has position on us, I think I'm less concerned about the one possible draw than I am about being blown off my hand and not getting to showdown; with that in mind, I probably lean to a check to underrep and possibly attempt to keep the pot under control / improve my chances of showing down my hand.

Wanting villains to call vs fold chasing a 4:1 flush draw getting 3:1 odds is pretty opponent and positional dependent. Against good difficult players who have position on us, we're pretty happy if everyone folds and we take it down. Against straightfoward ABC terrible passive calling stations, especially in position, we're a little bit more happier if things continue.
