Playing live 2-5 game.

Folds to hero who is in cut off who raises to 20 with
KQ
Villain in BB make call.

Flop is
Q96

Villain checks

Hero bets 40

Villain calls.

Turn is 7

Villain checks

Hero bets 50.

Villain calls.

River is 8

Villain leads for 115

Hero folds.

I find myself in these type of spots often where there is 3 to a flush out there, and I am holding top pair.

A couple ways I feel I could have played better was check through turn and river or size up my turn bet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I like a bet of minimum $130, and kind of like overbetting turn. Can rep hearts or A ❤️ Qx or K ❤️ Qx pretty effectively by firing $150 into pot of ~$127. Plus if V holds A ❤️, it’s a marvelous way to deny equity and realize your own.

Stack sizes would be very helpful here...

If you are shallow, I don't mind overbetting turn since A/Kh are pretty inelastic

Stack sizes/reads would be useful. But if nothing unusual is going on, good spot to check IMO.

Check flop. If you have a read and you thought double barreling would take down the pot then your line is ok. Would have sized bets differently.

With the DB line - Pre raise 35. As played $42 in pot, flop bet pot. Turn bet is too small for double barrel. $100 is a mental threshold. Bet $110-$125.

Anyhow back to the hand - check flop.

What’s coming along with you? You’re folding out worse hands and bringing along better, flushes, two pair, sets and BD straight draws.

Same line on turn.

on monotone boards ive been cbetting very small like 1/4 of the pot with my entire range. people play pretty poorly against it in my experience (and face up), checkraising made flushes and sets and calling with weak flush draws and top pair only. so the cbet takes the pot down a lot. then on the turn here i like a larger sizing. were vs the range of pairs and draws, so it makes sense to bet big vs this weak range to put them in a gross spot. as played fold riv.

Bet flop is fine, any hand with a heart has great equity against us, and if he folds a hand like 22 or A2 with the 2h, thats actually a great result.

flop bet is too big though imo, no need to bet this big on boards like this, turn is fine, river is fine.
don´t do something like overbetting flop or turn, it´s just severely overplaying your hand, you played it fine, sometimes they get there, you can´t win every hand, don´t make stupid adjustments just bc you got outdrawn.

Played very well imo. If you find yourself in these spots regularly, youll be taking down a nice pot a decent amount.

Checking flop is bad because it lets low hearts see the turn.

I would check back every river except for non heart K/Q

Good fold. These textures are part of the large sample.

I'd go smaller otf, say $25-30. Hand is not a multi-streeter, but good enough to value early. All sorts of draws present, besides the nutty hands.

Likely checking turn to pot control. If checked to on river, value 1/2 PSB or so.
