How deep do low stakes play out in Vegas? How deep do low stakes play out in Vegas?

One of the usual jests between poker players around where I live is that you don't need to move to Vegas to lose all of your rent money, and when people realize how deep stacked even the 1/2 games play around here, they understand that there is truth behind that joke. I just started playing live poker about 4 months ago, and the 1/2 games I play locally start with a max initial buy-in of 200-300 dollars dependent on location, and then anytime after is 100% of the biggest stack. After 6-12 hours of playing, that 1/2 game might have someone buy in with about 2500 dollars, and soon it becomes a 1/2 mandatory 10 straddle game. The players I play against range from the old nits, rambunctious Asian gamblers, and the "young pros". And once you start playing at the local venues and gain respect of the other players (or they realize you got tons of money to lose), there are home games of 2/5 that end up with some people leaving with $10k in earnings.

So I guess what I'm asking is, if I ever make a trip to Vegas, how should I expect the low stakes games play out compared to how they play from my current experience? Is there a max on how much you can buy in, and how much can you expect to win playing 1/2 and 2/5? Thanks!
