I play a 1/2 game that plays more like a 5/5 (normally open to 20, 3 bets 75, etc.). There is 1 player that will always buy in the max and will bully the table aggressively. Pre flop he will play 30-40% of hands and his fold to a 3 bet is largely based on going multi-way. Post flop largely on turns and rivers when he senses weakness will overbet shove for 3x+ pot. Typically he has it 1 out of 2 times (a lot of straights).
Everyone else in the game is beatable, but I have consistently lost money to this guy and I'm just trying to understand how to claw back an edge.
I realise that since it is low stakes relative to how to play I can play a very narrow range and focus on position. I can also chose to play less hands with this individual and only call the all ins when I have a value range, but really any ideas you guys have on how to take this on and chip up in this game would be great.

If you are asking, "I'd like to continue to play my loose passive game so I'm not bored out of my mind at the table and win money against an aggressive player, how do I do it?", I can't help you there.
Tighten up against this player. Play your strong hands weakly, let him 3x it, and take his money. Play the flop normally, betting strong hands and draws. Check all strong made hands and draws that get there ott. Bet any bd draws that pick up equity, and then check those when you get there otr.
His big preflop raises mean you have to tighten up pre. If he was only spewing postflop and raises were cheap prefloo then I'd recommend see a flop with him with any reasonable two cards.
What's the max buy? If his preflop raises are this big and wide with 100ish bb stacks then he has to be getting it all in on the turn with TPNK or worse. Flop overpair or a set and take his money.
Also get on this donk's immediate left so you can play a hand when he folds. Playing on this guys' right totally kills your night in terms of fun because you'll have to be so tight when acting in front.
Does he call $20 opens with 30-40%? value bet him thin when he has a marginal hand, check to induce when you think he has air, occasionally bet big when he's weak but you're weaker.
