I'm not trying to be obnoxious. I do this all the time. "Well if it was me, that's what I would do."

He's not you. Odds are, he is ******edly giving you all the information you need to play optimal poker.

If otoh he really is that smart, you will find out soon enough.
...yes this this this +++ ...i keep putting inserting my range into theirs and ignoring pretty blatant info only to see they are playing very poor straightforward poker...this has caught me several times recently, when the more lucrative choice would have been to simply assume the lowest level thinking in their range...

If you're calling here I guess you can simply raise pre flop with any sexy looking hand, fire at the flop so that you've now got a third of your stack in the middle, and then call it off by assuming the other person has nothing. I mean, if you can't fold here, there aren't many spots you can, amirite?

Most of his c/r shove hands that are draws are pairs plus draws, or A-hi flush draws. I'm also confused as to why you think he can have Js8s or Ks8s here, but not 77/66/55/76s?
it was an awkward spot given the stacks, i really talked myself into an overly optimistic range focus on V, i discounted the small pairs because he was last to act after the raise and it had been folded around to him, he would have been essentially calling 12-15% of his stack pre oop with a small pair. you are correct however, he had pp 55.

Call=Pure spew

When I see a hero call like this, I am Insta overbetting all my made hands against you. Even if your correct this time it will cost you alot in future.

F.W.I.W. I am bet/folding against most villain's on this flop. 1/2 maybe slightly less.
thanks, yeah i feel that way too, was 50-50 on my c-bet but i needed to find the fold to the rr. it was definitely a super unusual call for me not indicative of my norms which is why i posted, truth is even an optimistic view makes it super marginal ...only excuse i have is ive never played this room and generally play the 1-2 not 1-3 so being just slightly out of my element may have thrown me off

A lot of villains will raise big on a drawy board if they have a monster because they're so terrified of getting sucked out on. The pot had $80 when villain shoved, so he easily could have been happy to win what's there. A lot of people would rather win $80 for sure than risk getting sucked out on while trying to get more value. In short, a lot of villains will play their monster hands this way.

And of course, even if he has something less, he still will often be ahead.

Way overthinking this spot. Sometimes we have him beat sure but nowhere near enough to call. I couldn't imagine calling this off vs anyone, even the spewiest player ever.

Getting 2:1 odds (33%)

You have 8 outs.
Rule of 2/4 means 16%/32%.

Seems a toss up.
I guess I call, just in case he's bluffing?

3 limps around to me on the button, i have KhQh, noones shown any propensity to limp big hands yet so I pop it to 20, more or less expecting to take it down there. (i have 200 behind prior to the 20 bet)

V flats leaving himself about 200 behind.

flop comes 5h6s7s, V checks, I c-bet 40 thinking this misses the majority of even his light range. he check-shoves all in...i tank, theres like 130+Vs shove(120) in the pot, i have 120 behind, V covers me with his push so im getting a little better than 2:1 ...I feel like draws are a massive portion of Vs check push here given stack sizes, he could easily be committing with a hand like Js10s, or some double draw combo like Ks8s, Js8s...also a small possibility hes playing like A7 and hit the 7...anyways with that being a large part of the range im thinking i could actually be 40-50% on flop here but its certainly possible im only 23-26% here, if i weigh it heavier towards the draws (by the way this guy never limps pp1010/jj ish here) im thinking i can expect to average 35% ish so getting 2:1+ I made the call............thoughts?
well, lets take a look at some ranges for villain

Hand 0: 31.242% { KhQh }
Hand 1: 68.758% { 99-44, AsJs, AsTs, As9s, A8s, As4s, As3s, As2s, KsTs, Ks9s, K8s, K4s, Ks3s, Ks2s, Q8s, J8s, T8s-T7s, 97s+, J8o, T8o, 98o }
So I gave V a pretty generous range of flush draws and straight draws and we come out a 31% dog...

so yeah, this is pretty damn spewy.

This is one of those ego related plays we want to make and win and then turn over our hand so the table sees how awesome we are...

One of the things I learned a couple of years ago is that it is alright if a villain outplays us in the right spots.

In this spot, given the action, our call here is just -EV longterm. So even if V turns over 32o I'm 100% fine with letting him take this down. Good on him, great play villain, you deserve this pot... and then I move on to the next hand.

Trying to be super duper awesome in these spots and soul read like the grim reaper is a one way ticket to Level-Yourself-Ville population you

this is the world's easiest fold once he shoves...

Does this really count as a hero call?? Not IMO
Calling here is spewey and straight gambling.
Pre flop is fine and I like your c bet.
Now fold
