How bad is it to flat AK to a 3bet/4bet at lower SPR How bad is it to flat AK to a 3bet/4bet at lower SPR

In my passive live game, flatting AK is the gold standard.
Just checking your opinion here on how stupid this is at various SPRs.
When is flatting AK ever a profitable play?

The pinnacle was a hand from yesterday where I 4bet a std size and the guy 3bet-called with AK, leaving an SPR of 0.7. Just how bad is this play?

What about other SPRs?
3-4 Mostly when flatting vs a 3bet..
5-10 When flatting an open..

The only time you should flat AK preflop is in the BB vs an early open. Otherwise 3bet away.

If villain thinks your loose enough that playing AK to a 4 bet is good he should shove. Flatting with a trivial stack behind is terrible.

If SPR will be < 3 on the flop AK should be folding or shoving. After that it's too situational. Order of action, position, stack sizes, ranges all matter. Folding AK to a 4 bet is usually the right move and in a passive game folding to a 3 bet can be better then calling or raising.

When did people start using the term 3!.....it saves literally only 2 characters. And it looks so stupid. Just say bet. It’s not hard it’s ok people really

For me flatting vs 3betting AK boils down to a lotta things: stack sizes, who is doing the raising from where, the amount of dead money in the pot (especially relative to stacks), etc.

With no significant dead money in the pot (i.e. no other callers to the original), I'm often just flatting, especially if it's a tighter EP opener. I'm hoping to invite a dominated Ace into the mix which I can make money off postflop (even if I won't be making money off of the raisers JJ/etc. on A/K high boards), and perhaps even get myself into a spot where I can 4bet an aggro light 3better going after the dead money. But from a looser opener and with some calls in the mix and a shortish stack, I'm more for going after the money with a 3bet.

Meh on this. What if an ep opens to small amount 3-4x blind and is flatted multi-way. I think if ep is opening semi wide, this is a fine spot to 3B to big amount as you are almost always crushing the flatting ranges and ep if they aren’t a tight nit.

I know it’s all situational but I feel 3B is gold in this type of spot. Sure if it’s a tight opener this changes and or no flats behind.
