Playing 1/3 yesterday

Hero is UTG
Bet 15 hoping for a 3bet

First question -should I just bet 30 here hoping to get someone heads up?

5 callers

Flop was dry, something like T93r
75 in the pot
SB checks
Hero bets 60
Everyone folds

What's the best way to play this? Table is pretty loose passive

Open raise sizing depends on how "action" the game is playing. It is sometimes difficult to stop the "donkey train" (ie: one person calls, then everyone call because of pot odds). This is okay, we just need to know how to play multiway pots. As played, I bet $50 here on the flop.

Dont make a raise that you *hope* will get 3bet without some prior reads or dynamic that leads you to think that you will.

But do try and make a raise taht will get you a heads up or 3 way pot as generally you will be able to realize the greatest profit this way.

Flop sizing is a little bit big, but likely ok against stationy type players.

The texture of the flop is kind of important. If the flop was "something like" T93 it's tough to comment on the hand as T93 is much much different than T73

You don't state stacks, but unless they are all super short we don't want to go eleventeen ways in a raised pot with high pocket pairs. You also state table is passive, so it's unlikely our open is going to be 3bet. So at a loose table like this, unless I can get in 10% of my stack really easily and most likely narrow the field to HU/3way, I would limp/reraise here.

Again, stacks will really dictate our postflop play. Board ain't exactly dry as there are straight draws / pairs + backdoors. But unless we are going to commit to the hand (which we should rarely do with an overpair in an eleventeen way pot), I don't like our huge flop bet size.

The hand you posted is 100% standard.

Pre-sizing and flop sizing are fine.

I would always open raise this at a loose/passive table (if you want to raise even more for value, you could, but I think $15 is usually a good start), and I think you can certainly bet 60 into 75 5-way against loose/passives. Could you go 50-55? Sure. But 60 is fine.
