Hero gets out of line and it backfires 2/5

Villain $covers - Decent player - younger guy - plays relatively straight forward vs me - did have a set over set earlier where I had 22 and he had 33 on A23 board - I lead $125 - he calls - fish goes all in for $200 - I call - and he trys to back raise but is forced to call. 7 turn and it gets checked down and fish has K7 - River is 5

Hero $1200 - Playing kinda lag - I haven't gotten too out of line, but defiantly not running good. All my hands are missing - and I am just getting put in tough situation after tough situation. Nothing really working out. Probably stuck $800.

Hero gets 75 in CO and goes $25 over 1 limp. I am not in love with this play but I like to play in later position deep but this is probably not a great open.

Villain in SB calls
BB calls
Limper - who is a fish calls

$100
T82

Villain checks
BB checks
Limper goes $50
I go $125
Villain back raises to $375
Limper folds
Hero????

I guess he has a set at worse?? Maybe bare A Not super great spot

Hand 1- 100 is way better than 125

Hand 2- I don't like raising the flop. As played raise is so tiny. As played call.

Re: Hero gets out of line and it backfires 2/5

If we call the $250 more, we are pretty much pot-committed.

There are no turn and river cards that can help us, short of the runner/runner straight flush.

Is it worth $1075 to see if a decent player - younger guy - plays relatively straightforward vs us - is somehow out of line this time?

"Nice bet, sir" and sigh fold.

ya i screwed up hand 1 but it worked out in my favor and I lost the min.

Hand 2 - I agree, but if we call flop what do we do on turn?

Then you see what happens on the turn. Too many scenarios.

Uh well we can see if the turn is a or pairs the board - if it's not we stack off. Minimizing variance 101.

Raising pre is totally fine. This is a snap ship, its incredibly likely he has Ad, he could also have a set, and small but low chance he has the nut flush, i mean maybe a mid flush... so yeah, ship it and well played.

edit: this is a pretty good idea, except you may end up getting bluffed off by a set when 4th diamond comes, or by A diamond when the board pairs.

I also might get struck by lighting.

Tough hand. A set is going to get there 1/3 of the time. Naked A◇ gets there a 1/3 all his flushes are better. I think a fold is in order. Easy to analyze as a post though I think I bomb it about half the time at the table.

You punish the idiots harder by flatting the first time which is what nearly your whole c-range ought to be doing facing a donk.

Also, Villain didn't just back raise, he checked first and then made it 375 facing big action on monotone, that's not a set. I would rip up my cards and throw them in the trash before calling.

almost this.

but folding is still too weak.

hate jamming this flop, but if we wait for a safe turn card, we have to dodge 16 turn cards to feel OK about getting this in on the turn. so 1/3 of the time we are most likely going to want to fold the turn anyway also.

the most important part of this hand is if we think that V will ever do this with just the naked A, or is he always making this bet with a value hand?

If we think that he is always doing this with a value hand, we have to dump it.

If we think that he would do this with just the naked A, we should jam it on the flop simply because it is much less likely that there are two flopped flushes.

Grunch

Probably calling and jamming brick turns and folding T/8/2/diamond turns

Call flop, if nothing changes on the turn jam over his bet. If the turn comes a diamond and he checks, you check back. If he bets a diamond you fold. If the board pairs and he leads you fold.

Isn't being in position great?

Flat flop. As played I hate this spot and just fold.
