I'm surprised nobody else wants to fold the flop, we're three ways and we have just ace high.

From his perspective, he’s likely not folding out better or getting called by worse very often at all, so it’s a negative freeroll into two players essentially.

We don’t really need to consider the fact that we’re near the top of our range based on how the hand played out since it’s unlikely that hero’s developed a cold calling range here.

In addition, this is underbluffed spot. So What are we hoping for with a hero vs this sizing?

spazz factor is real and we’ll be good a % of the time for sure, but not nearly enough for this call to be profitable I’d imagine.
You can't really credit villain for that kind of mentality or fundamental game knowledge to have that kind of range when he straddles first hand and plays passively until the river. Calling should not ever be a large mistake, while folding can be torching. Don't be surprised to see someone hero fold, only to kick themselves a few minutes later as a better picture of villain emerges, often one where he busts quickly or plays almost every hand.

I agree with most of that but I’m still going to give V credit for realizing that he’s chopping with all other Ax and has very little reason to bet that for this sizing.

My understanding is that you believe V doesn’t know he’s chopping with Ax?

otoh if we were playing a reg I’d have a very hard time folding because they may be trying to get us off a chop at a reasonable freq.

I’d be really surprised if calling here wasn’t +EV in the long run.
It seems that you're misreading the HH. The HJ bet the flop, not the straddle.

No, i am saying villain can bet close to ATC here and chopping awareness is not really a factor. Though we can discount aa for being least likely for even a rando to flat pre.

Spazzy villains can still recognize needing to bet to win. Similarly, bad villains will value-bet worse due to poor fundamental & mechanical knowledge.

While we can debate how much spazz is in villain's range, at these stakes, i feel it is enough to be a standard call. And this conclusion is based on tons of live experience at this stake.
