Gross spot with QQ deep?? Gross spot with QQ deep??

Hi guys,

I'm playing a 2/2 game 40-100 buy-in. I buy in for 100 and run it up to 350 by overflushing someone and showing down a few good hands in an hour.

Villain is a super spazzy old guy calling station who seems crazy. He doesn't show preflop aggression I hadn't seen him 3bet once in an hour and a half.

Villain made $50 turn call against short stack with KJo on KQ97ccc board no club in his hand. So I guess profiling him he makes super light calls decent amount of time he's in the hand.

I pick up QQ in late position. Villain raise utg $6 gets four callers. I have $350 Villain has me covered. I repop to $40 and he nearly insta ships all in. I'm thinking his range here is AKo, AK s, AA, KK. If he had Aq or AJ or JJ I feel he would most likely flat since I've never seen him spazz pre.

Thoughts?

If he isn't aggressive preflop, then this is a pretty easy fold. His range has to be weighted towards AA/KK and the rest is mostly AK. Occasionally this will be a bluff or a spazz move with a weaker hand that thinks your trying to squeeze, but without some specific read it isn't worth trying to pick it off.

Being that deep actually helps here. Short you might just have to go with this, but doing it for 175BB is just stupid.

Yeah no specific reads in this spot I don't think he is really aware of me squeezing seems like the type of player who just plays his cards.

Well, you gave the results so everything now is Monday morning quarterbacking. The suggested time to wait is at least 24 hours.

Harrington suggested that you should always assume at least 10% chance of the villain's range is air. If you add that to your range, it is basically a wash. Given that he hadn't done anything wild yet, I'm fine with the fold.

Well, now you know he can spazz. Keep that in mind in the future. For 100BB+, I'm still giving up QQ unless he does this a lot. Instead, try to figure out what gets him to spazz and when you have a suitable hand for stacks, try to get him to spazz. Don't let it bother you, once your 100BB+ you just can't try to pick off every spazz/bluff shoves. Instead, if your villain is spazzy, raise more with your very strong hands and try to get them to spazz shove into your monsters.

If he does raise/shove a lot when somebody makes a bet that looks like a squeeze, then you can exploit it. Certain villains are pathological and will raise/shove over any bet that seems like a squeeze. When that is the case, don't raise unless you do want to get it in and when you do raise, use hands that play well all in preflop.

Yeah it's a fold, Villain's a lucky boy that you didn't have a pocket pair just one higher or he was getting STACKED.

This seems like a very break even/ slightly losing proposition. Getting 1.3-1 you need to be good here 1 out of ever 2.3 times to reach neutral EV, which means you need 43% equity (1/2.3=~43%). I dislike the range you assign since most players that would push AKo would also jam QQ. QQ verse a range of AKo, AKs, AA, KK, and QQ had 40% equity (I'm not doing this off the top of my head. Hint hint, download a poker equity calculator). Still not enough... Now if you expand his range and add in half the combos of JJ and you're at 44% equity, which is barely +EV. So fold. But I thought that you should see the maths behind this so you can work out situations by yourself rather than simply posting "fold" as a response.

Good disciplined fold.

I would only make this call if I thought that V was tilting. Now that we know that V is a spew monkey, we should look to punish him

I'm folding qq to a 4 bet against unknowns happily at 2/2. I've folded it to 3 bets happily too

In a vacuum, you could argue that calling this is a wash. Though, even if we argue this is close to neutral EV, why make the higher variance play? (especially if you might tilt when you call and lose the hand)?

If villain will call big bets with TP okay kickers on really wet boards, than I would wait for spots where I can value town the hell out him. which will be much more +EV than calling this shove preflop.
