I live in rural North Carolina and recently played a game with $1/2 blinds and mandatory $5 straddle for previous pot winner. Game was perfect, loaded with ATMs. I'm usually a TAG and bet big but got sucked out on a couple pots so I barely profited.
Anyway, a guy there invited me to his game that plays the same $1/2/5s. Some of the same fish will be there. Based on what I heard from others, the game in question is basically B-I-N-G-O, and the rake is %5 uncapped with $100 min buy.
I am rolled for the game by lenient standards, but under rolled by conservative standards (this doesn't bother me). I'm not an absolutely stellar player, but I fancy myself over most of my opponents in the home games I play (mostly in rural NC - lots of poorly educated hicks with minimal understanding of NL).
Should I play? If so any recommendations as to how I should play?
I want to at least check it out. I can always leave quickly and never return. But with it being a bingo style, let's say I pick up KK in EP and make it $30 to go and get 3 callers. Flop: Q-9-7. Usually here, I'll bet kings like they're the nuts, but in bingo, people might be calling with suited computer hand, not willing to fold JTo (ok) pre, call big bets OOP with 97s. (I'll obviously still bet 3/4 or more here). I know their mistakes = longterm profit, but what if I just can't thin the field?
My concerns are thinning the field and that ranges will be way too wide to effectively hand read. I know it would be high variance which is whatever. But I feel that these gamblers won't be observant enough to see how much I'm folding so I can wait for AA and bet half my stack (get called by 4 players and lose). Anyway I haven't played bingo since 5/10 cent back in the dorms over 4 years ago.
Y'ALL have any thoughts???
