I was inspired by the fishiest outfits question over on NVG, and I did a little bit of a lengthier write up than anticipated so I figured some might find this helpful over in LLS.

I find the following has generated myself a small edge to add to my arsenal that is very easy to implement and is also fun. I'm of course talking about WHAT SHOULD YOU WEAR TO THE CASINO? First of all if you are fairly new to the casino I would just wear something that is comfortable so that way you can focus more on the game, but if you're familiar with live play I think this is a great way to add some small EV to our trip.

I always carefully pick out my outfit before I go to the poker room. You always want to be seen as someone who gives action, and I think the outfit goes a long way in some cases. Subconsciously and consciously.

Your options vary and are as follows:

-Button up shirt with dress pants and leather shoes. Tucked in preferably with a very slightly loosened tie from "work". You can loosen the tie up more if you want to seem more sloppy rather than well-off. Your nicest watch is a good addition to this outfit.

-Hawaiian button up with the top two buttons undone. Either khaki pants or if you can stand the cold in the casino this outfit requires very colorful short-shorts to be worn with it. Preferably a bright color such as pink or light blue. Sunglasses are a good addition for this fit, but I personally leave them off because my room is dimly lit.

-Very, very, saggy (and I mean corner store gangster low) dark wash jeans with either an MLB or NBA team. Bonus points if you choose a 'douche' team such as Golden State or the Yankees. Flat brimmed hat tilted to the side slightly is our accessory choice here. More bonus points if the hat matches the jersey.

-A comfortable hoodie, sweatpants, and colorful socks with slip on slides. (they must be slides, not thongs). Now hear me out on this one. This outfit works surprisingly well as long as your hoodie and sweats are in deplorable condition. Seriously find an old hoodie and trash the **** out of it. Cut holes in it, rip it, toss it outside and leave it in the sun for a week so it gets faded awkwardly. You must look like a scumbag stoner not a grinder for this outfit to work. It's the hardest to pull off and I would make it my last choice.

Some Pro Tips:

-Thinking players will obviously figure it out after a few showdowns, thin value bets, preflop tightness from the SB etc. Don't worry about them we are only trying to confuse the fish in order to maximize our action.

-Always engage in conversation. Ideally you are the one asking all the questions and driving the conversation, but it is okay if this isn't your forte. You can always be a good "number 2". If someone says they think LeBron is better than Jordan, chim in with your opinion. If the whale comments on the tennis match then you make a comment as well. Just participate. If your mouth is moving people will assume you're as loose as you talk. Obviously headphones are not allowed. You need to be able to deal with these people if you're gonna make it. Make it fun.

-An exception to the previous rule is when players are discussing hands that occurred at the table. If you're gonna drive the convo here you need to steer it off the hand history strategy road and send it right back to action town by changing the subject. However there is room here for our introverted "number 2" to chime in when the whale says he just "had to call" and you can "never fold that". You ****ing agree. You tell him how disgustingly unlucky he is and that he is always getting sucked out on.

-Greet everyone with at least a hello when you first sit down. Be very upbeat and friendly. Carefree and relaxed.

This has gone on far longer than I expected and a little off topic so I'll end it here. You can always influence the action at your table with outside variables unrelated to the cards. The more comfortable you can make your opponents the better. Loose passive relaxed conversation and atmosphere = loose passive relaxed play.

Go get em'.

Good points. #1 and #2 are my favorite as well. Too bad up in the Midwest Hawaiian shirts are only an option for 3/4 months of year because of the cold weather.

Baller move: flip flops, jock strap, fedora, sun glasses. Ship it.

Ever notice that after u start dressing like a whale, and making whale comments, and thinking whale thoughts, it doesn’t take too long before u actually start playing like a whale?

Yes it does tend to occur on occasion. Interesting phenomenon. Hopefully you're in a game where all the other players are also wearing the #1 outfit and it usually doesn't matter too much.

I dont know what stakes you play but 1/2 to 2/5 none of this is necessary. Your opponents have such fundamental misconceptions about poker in general that they will make all of the mistakes themselves just by being there.

I do absolutely agree with you, but the impression and appearance of someone has a lot more of an effect on your subconscious than you think. Not only at the poker table, but in real life. Even brain dead morons are judging your looks.

It's all in good fun mostly, but your behavior and appearance at the table will always effect your image. If you know your image ... well that is going to help you play good poker in my opinion.

My go-to is a funny t-shirt, or something from a TV show, video game, whatever other players might notice and start talking about. Keep the vibe chill & friendly so that the fish have more fun!

What I thought during the post, however I considered this post geared towards satire/humor.
