Game .50p/£1 live hold em cash game London, England. This is my first post so bare with me.

I am a reg in the game playing with other known players. I have £250 in the cutoff with 8d8s and iso to 5 bbs two limps, one from utg from 200bbs and one from MP1 with 350bbs. An unknown young guy peels from 350bbs and so do the two limps giving a pot of 21.50.

Flop is As 8h 3s

It checks to me and I c bet 10... The button calls quickly and the two limpers fold.

Turn 10s I bet 15 and get raised to 45. I call.

River Kc I check to button and he bets 65 quite quickly.

Opinions please. I feel I should have c bet more on flop with a flush draw present and could have check called turn and river rather than bet. As I said this is my first post so it would be nice to see how people think analytically in these spots.

Bet 15-20 on flop. I'm not betting more because of the possibility of a flush draw, though that's one component. I'm mostly betting more because we're targeting Ax. If villain has Ax, we can make and win a large flop bet and possibly also a large pot on turn and river. If he doesn't have Ax or a flush draw, he mostly won't call even a small bet. So we bet larger for value.

The turn isn't a great card, but I'm still betting for value. Many Ax hands contain one spade (none of them, of course, contain 2), he can call again with Ax even without a spade, and there are many other hands that give us value (Xx8s, Xs8x, JxJs, 9s9s, etc). I agree with betting smaller as the value is thinner and I want to play a smaller pot with my set on the flush turn. As you played it, the pot is now around 40.. 15 is too small, but not by much... I would bet ~25. When he raises, yes, it's a clear call getting 3:1.

River check/call is fine. You have a set getting 3:1 (~65 into ~130, right?). You lose to some flushes, but you beat a lot too... especially two pair, especially 9 AT combos.

FWIW, I would check/shove the river if the board paired.

Bet bigger in both spots. If you think he'd be able to read your small bets as weakness and attack otr...then snap it off!
