Had exactly this experience recently, dude x/r my cbet and then bet turn and river. I called down because of his small bet sizing, fully expected to see two pair OTR. Nope, TPGK, lost to my overpair. No idea what he was playing at, though to be fair I would have folded if he’d sized up his bets so there’s that.

Raise more pre or don’t go broke with a pocket pair on a paired board against players that like to limp call a wide range.

Checking our whole range on the flop is fine and then we can just call turn and river here and not get stacked or give our opponents a chance to hit something like a king or a queen on the turn so that we’re in a good spot to get value from broadway cards. We also protect our range with hand skills like maybe 67s or pocket tens that we would have maybe played the same way preflop. The thing is this board really doesn’t hit or raise from the small blind range very hard and we’re pretty much just going to have overpairs or bluffs for value most of the time.

If we are going to bet I prefer to bet small like $20 because we’re targeting a hand with a ten in it or maybe a hand like 66 88 or 99 that’s going to peel one, there aren’t that many straight draws and also if we’re perceived as cbetting this board a lot those might just flat and try to take it down on a later street if we give up. By betting smaller on this flop we keep the SPRs smaller too and we can make easier decisions when facing continued aggression ok later streets.

i would have called the turn b/c it looked like a 10 or a 7

lot of rivers you would have had to pay on this one though IMO barring a great live read

only card i can say i would have folded for sure if the river was a 10 to be honest

I would definitely call turn and wait to see on the river. There's no reason to shove here in my low-level opinion.

He could also play like this with overpairs like AA-JJ. So I wouldn’t fold to such small bets.
