$1/3 game is playing very loose passive. Limps will make it around, if it get's raised it will be to $8, max $12. Odd game in that respect. Raises will get called and played passive again.
Hero is on $380, gets 33 UTG, limps. BB is super sticky calling station w/ ~$700 (sat down with it and dealer didn't notice?). I'm set mining and trying to have BB get any part of it to get paid.
2 MP callers, both blinds call.
Flop $13
Jd6h3c
SB, BB check, H checks (some FPS here but I'm in a great spot, I expect on of the MP callers to stab $10 at it, BB will definitely call, I'll raise to $50, MP will fold, BB is a lock call and I'm set up for 2 more streets of value, probably $80ish on turn and $125 on river. May not be a great plan, but it's my plan)
Unfortunately both MP's check behind. Not a big problem, I'll take over from here.
Turn $13
Jc
SB, BB check, H leads for $10, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, both blinds fold (that isn't what I was planning...)
River $32
Jh
$%*( - that's not a good river for H. Does H check to MP or turn his hand into a bluff? MP1 is a very nondescript player. Sitting on ~$250 or so. Hasn't been in many hands, doesn't seem particularly tricky or terribly bad, just average.
I don't think this is a WAWB situation because he could have a 6 or all kinds of small pairs, could think a big A is good, and of course could have quads.
Obviously not a large pot but somehow I was rattled by the running J's I couldn't figure out what to do here. H bet's or check?
Thanks for your valuable input. You've enriched not only my understanding of the game but the forum on whole with this articulate and relevant response. Thank you.
If anything, bluff-catching is a much better option than trying to bluff someone off a FH. Also, 6x bets flop at a decent frequency, and 77-1010 are probably raising pre. So yeah I dont really mind a x/c here, esp since u dont have a club
Just try to check it down. You are probably losing now but bluffing is pretty hopeless. Nobody is folding a better boat. Might call a small river bet depending on villain.
Your flop check makes me sad. Lead for $15. You shouldn't rely on other people to bet for you in limped pots since no one has the intiative. Why do you expect one of the other callers to take a stab? There's not a lot of money in the middle to bluff at.
Check/evaluate river. Trying to bluff people off of a full house is a mistake. Even if someone was willing to fold a FH, they're probably not doing so to one bet in a small pot.
So I reopened a leak from days passed and bet smallish on river trying to rep a milk bet with a huge expecting someone who isn't pay much attention to make an astute play. I played it like an ass-clown. I lose to 6-4 off-suit.
Small bets will get called more often, not less, even by someone "paying attention." Especially here a small bet will fold out missed draws and get called by 6x. I doubt even 55/44 fold.
You have the best hand often enough with all the missed draws to try to get to showdown here.
