Game is 1/2 euro blinds live full ring.

PRE-FLOP
UTG open raises to 8 euro. I flat in the HJ with 44. Villain is a recreational player in the big blind. 5 people in total see the flop.

FLOP
Flop is Q42 rainbow.
I bet only 16 euro into the 40 euro pot.
Only Villain (BB) calls.

TURN
Turn is a 6 bringing a backdoor flush draw. (Board Q 4 2 6)
Villain checks, I bet 45 (into the 72 euro pot) and V check-raises me to 125 (leaving himself 130 back, I cover him).
I think he might have turned the straight but I am getting good odds to boat up on the river. Also I think that he might be playing 22 or a random 2-pair this way. So I call.

RIVER
River is an offsuit 7
He snap-goes all in with his last 130 into the 322 euro pot.
I am basically getting about 4.5-1. I think I should fold since recreational players don't play a non-nut hand THAT strong. I am pretty sure he has the straight.
Anyway I make a stubborn (bad?) call and sure enough he has the 3-5 offsuit for a turned nut straight.

Advice? Comments?

Preflop is fine.

Flop bet is way too small. I would've bet at least 2/3 pot. He may not have continued. The 6 wouldn't have alarmed me that much as I usually wouldn't put such trash cards with a player at UTG.

Turn bet is still too small. Turn call is not bad. You are getting 1:3 on money.

River If my bets were larger I may have already gotten it in on the turn. Here it's much harder more uncomfortable to call. He check raised on that turn and the standard rec V is almost always going to have it here.

Bet 30-35 on the flop.

Get it in on the turn.

Make a note that this player will defend his big blind with garbage.

Don't post results in the OP. You won't get honest answers that way.

OK how do I edit the original post now? I can't find the option...

What is the reasoning to get it in on the turn? If he really has the 3-5 I am getting it really badly. If I just call and the river pairs the board then I can stack him since he has left so little behind. If the river doesn't pair I can just fold sometimes (as I think I should have done in this case)

Regarding the flop bet, yes I could have bet more, however the flop board was so rainbow I wanted to get as many calls as possible even from medium pairs (77-JJ). I thought that if I bombed the flop I would only get calls from a Queen.

But you want to build the pot to get ready for the turn shove. AP the pot didn't get big enough for the turn shove.
