2-3, just sat down 20 mins ago and have played 10 or so hands. No real reads on the table and have not played any real hands so far.
Villain HJ: Young rec, no real reads as I’ve only just sat down.
Hero (button) 7c8c
Folds to Villain in HJ who raises $10, Hero calls,
SB and BB call
Flop ($40): 2c5c9c
Checks to villain who bets $15, hero raises to $45, Folds to villain who calls,
Turn ($130): 4c
Villain checks, hero?
Line check and whether and whether and if so how much to bet here?
Our hand strength goes from super strong to a bluff catcher with the turn but his calling range includes sets, tptk and 2p without a club potentially. Unsure how to play this one.

Flop raise probably a bit bigger.
Turn is obvious check, there’s no uncertainty here.

I'll assume 100bb / $300 stacks.
I won't hate on preflop especially since price is ok and we're in position, but reads are a decent part of the game so I'd typically also rather have that going for us as well. The fact that it's ended up multiway now also starts bringing RIO into play.
If my stack assumption is correct, the SPR is about 7. It's going to be unlikely we'll be able to get away from our hand given that just 3 easy peasy bets postflop will get stacks in (hints at RIO preflop). I typically like giving poor 2:1 odds to draws, so I'd initially lean to raising the flop to $85, especially with my belief that no one ever folds a draw on the flop. That would also leave us with a PSB jam for the turn. Not really a fan of our sizing.
Given the turn I don't feel committed any more, in which case I don't bet (as a bet will likely be stack committing). I check it back and make a soul read on the river (which is easier to do with reads, another reason preflop ain't a slam dunk).

Would you consider raising that hand pre since you’re on the button? Calling is ok too lMO
Raise flop $60–65
Check turn, this one does not spark joy.

Sorry yep eff stack is $300. Agree that raise should have been bigger and glad that everyone agrees it’s a check.
Hero checks back Turn.
River ($130): Jd
Villain thinks for a minute then bets $50
This has to be a fold with no reads right against the population at 2-3?

I'd probably lean to a fold. There aren't a lotta busted draws on the flop (like whiffed OESD's) that he could be bluffing. Mostly sets and two pairs just attempt to take their showdown value cuz they hate the board just as much. Doubt overpairs+noflush continue the flop enough just to bluff the river.

fold now readless, probably has the kc or qc
doubt he bets 50 on a bluff
