So this is the first HH I've ever posted. I'm a newish player who has started taking poker a bit more seriously this year. In the 30ish hours I've played this year I'm up about $100 so needless to say I'm about to quit my job and go pro. This is probably a boring hand but still would like to know if I played it right.

As I am new to the game I don't have a completely accurate recollection of stack sized (or board texture) and my reads can be taken with a grain of salt (or ignored).

Anyways: 1/2 NL
UTG Villain 1: Younger guy. Seems like a solid player. Maybe a little loose.
MP Villain 2: Older guy. A little nitty. OMCISH
Button Hero: Younger guy. Probably a little nitty as well. Obviously inexperienced at stacking chips and counting out bets. Incredibly handsome.

Hero is dealt 44

V1 Opens to $12 (about the tables standard open)
Folds to V2 who calls
Folds to Hero who calls
Blinds fold

Fold Pre? I don't mind set mining sometimes. We have the button so maybe a raise? I'm new and bad so I flat.

Flop ($38) Kx4x7x
V1: Bets $20
V2: Minraise to $40
Hero:???

Never fold pre.

Flat the flop to keep worse in range. It's a pretty uncoordinated flop. Call down OMC on future streets and pray for AK, or a random K7.

Hard to say best line without stack sizes or if there's a flush draw but after the old nitty man raises I'm either flatting or if there is a flush draw and stacks aren't too big jamming on flop.

Do you have some sense of stack sizes. It's important here.

Stack sizes could dictate a fold pre, and the decision to call/raise/jam on the flop is also somewhat dependent on stack sizes.

Never folding on the button here with pp. I like the call since set mining is fine with a caller ahead of you already. I don't like a raise since a 4! would put us in a horrible spot (you forgot to put stack sizes in your post so it's hard to tell though). Flop action is great for you since it's a rainbow board and we're in position: let them hang them selves and flat call. No way V1 folds and V1 and V2 could induce more action on turn/river. Re-eval to call/raise on each turn, depending on action while keeping in mind a possible 56s and 77 cooler.

If you are going to set mine a 6xBB raise you and at least one other person involved in the hand should have at least 100BBs iirc. I don't recommend bluff raising your small/med pocket pairs because they play really poorly in 3bet pots except for the 12% of the time you get a set. If you are in the rare 1/2 game where a player is aggressive and open raises too wide, but is also capable of folding to a 3bet, hands like T9s and A5s are better because they play better when you get called and/or they block combos like AA/AK, which make up a large portion of their continuing range. It barely comes up for me though.

For the hand, it is pretty boring. I would flat the flop and become aggressive once V2 stops putting money in. The best hand that V2 has that we beat is AK, which I think he has here a lot of the time. Reraising probably won't accomplish much unless V1 appears to catch some sort of draw.

nothing wrong with flatting pre-flop.... and i wont say never fold pre... it also depends on the action before you, and the person betting... but that being said... since you didnt say what the suits are of the cards, if it's rainbow.. bet till you go broke!!!

but since it went 20, 40... i'd bet like 80 / 100 cuz if the first two guys have AK or K7 or KQ,KJ you will get one or both to call...

if there was a flush draw on the board.. i'd make it 100 or 120..

Thanks for the replies. Sorry for not including stack sizes but we were all about equal hovering around 200bb. I slightly covered V1 and V2 slightly covered me. No flush draw on the board.

Flat, let them barrel you , watch turn card for straight , or shove all in as they seem like they aren't leaving the hand
