Flop top set and 2 players go All-in Flop top set and 2 players go All-in

1/2: Someone makes a small preflop raise to $8. 2 callers, plus I call in SB with 66. Flop is 653. I lead out with $20. Fold,Fold, then a player goes all-in for $39. A second player moves all-in for $225. I'm not sure anyone would call a preflop raise with 74 or 42. I'm thinking an overpair, middle set, or bottom set. So I call. It turns out they both have a straight, but I get lucky and river them both with another 5 giving me the boat.
My question is was this a correct call, not knowing anything about these players?

Firstly, you should include your stack size as this is very important.

With the given information, I do not think you should fold top set on that board

Nice hand, easy call. Do you have pokerstove or any other equity tools to run simulations with?

The 1st step is to range them...it sounds like you have done that. I might add a few combos of the nut flush draw because people freak out and spazz.

Next, plug the ranges into your equity calculator and see what the pot odds are offering go from there. As a genera rule....if you never folded sets at 1/2 you would prob be better off. Esp on the flop with drawy boards.

What is your stack size to start the hand?

You lose to 74 and 42. These hands are not going to show up too often here. If they do, you have outs. One of the all ins is a short stack. The isolater is probably going smaller if he has the straight. This is a very easy call.

Even if they both have 47 for a straight you have 35%.

If you're in a game where there's multiple people calling $8 PF with 47 or 24 you're in a pretty good game.

Well played post. The real question is whether it's worth it to call pre.

If it was just player 1, I would only call if I knew he was capable of coming in with... well, 74. But under normal circumstances, with a stack that small I wouldn't play 66 for a raise. Especially out of the SB. (I only play SB if I have to.)

So the question is, who is player 2? And the main question is, is he willing to put money in the pot after the flop? You need to reasonably expect a pot of $70 by the river to make it worthwhile to call with 66 in the small blind. If player 2 is a calling station, you're good to go, and played the hand perfectly. If player 2 is a shriveled up old fit-or-fold nit, you really have to think about his range pre, how stubborn he is post, and how he responds to big bets.

The term "big bet" is open to interpretation. To you, it was a standard 2/3 pot bet. But in absolute terms, $20 is an unusually large bet at many tables. If a big bet like that blows him off part of his range, the likelihood of building up a decent pot is less.

All in all I like the way you played it, but pay attention to who you are at the table with.

I had $210 so the guy that bet $225 had me covered.

Snippity snap snap.

When I read the title, I assumed you "must make the call" based on pot odds alone of getting it in with 3 guys. Also add someone may be bluffing, and/or yoiu are coolering a 2 pair or smaller set on occasion.

I would put either one of them on a flush draw, no way you can fold top set here

Folding top set on any flop is generally a bad idea.
