Newly opened table so no history. Villain seems like a solid player, Villain 2 has been calling every hand but folding if he doesn't hit.

$2/3 NL (9 handed)
Villain in UTG+2 ($300)
Hero in MP ($200)

Hero is dealt 7s8s

Villain raises to $15, UTg+3 calls, I call so 3 way to the flop

Flop ($45) 3910
Villain leads $40 into $45, UTG+3 calls, Hero shoves $200, villain tanks for a while before calling with QQ, UTG+3 tanks for a while, shows 88 and then folds

I really didn't want to just call a flop bet then fold to another turn bet if I missed. I didn't know what to do because stacks were too shallow. Should I just be folding this preflop? I mean I get the perfect flop right? I'm just really lost because folding on the flop did cross my mind, but then I thought why am I calling preflop just to fold when I flop an OESD?

Playing 7/8s with <70 bbs is tough. With just two villains in the pot, I fold. And I love 7/8 soooooooted.
On that board your shove looks exactly like what it is. You are asking the villain to call $155 into a pot of $285, and with 2-1, you will be hard pressed to get an overpair to fold. All in all, I think the real mistake was calling pre.

you need to be deeper to call raises with small sc's, u just don't have the implied odds needed to profitably call here pf. fold pre

I am also in love with sooted conectors, and it is a major leak for me pre.

what would people do if it were two spades on the flop? I think i would play the same way as hero...is that bad?

Open ended plus flush draw would justify the shove.

Agree with above, as played, however, strngth read is necessary on villan. I mean if you think he is never leading there with AK/AQ or 77/55 then your shove has probably zero fold equity (no to mention the player between you two), in which case, as terrible as it sounds, i dont hate flatting the flop. It minimizes variance, you are in position, and frankly if you whiff turn and Villain shoves just fold. You will still get payed when you hit, and you may get more free rivers than you think (i.e turn is A or K, board pairs, etc.).

Yeah the implied odds aren't there, especially considering how the PFR was 7.5x thus making your stack at the beginning of the hand more like 40ishbb's effective rather than 100bb's.
