I was floated the other night by some mid 40s middle eastern guy who slow plays aces and consistently bets around 30% of the pot. I didn't have much respect for his game.

Anyway, I havent been playing 1/2 NL for long and I want to know how common is floating in 1/2NL live? Is it something I should be looking out for or can I ignore it and be correct 90% of the time?

generally 1/2 players will not be floating, but as with everything in poker, its villain dependent

obviously a player who demonstrates he has a clear grasp on the game and is aggressive will be more apt to float than a 60yr old nit playing recreationally

wont be surprised if this gets locked as has been said above this question/statement is pretty broad

In short, better players can float sometimes, crappy players may do it without knowing what they are doing (ie. calling stations), most won't.

Floating without any type of backdoor draws is generally lighting money on fire in 1/2. It really only works against super tight players that hate to see scare cards hit, and when you are super deep and people won't get it in without the nuts.

Frequency depends on the players at the table, it depends. Yes it does happen.
