Live 1/2 @ Mohegan Sun. Main villain UTG +2 $120 effective.

Pre flop: 5 limps to hero in B.B. w/ Js9d. Hero checks.

Flop ($12): Kh Jd 9h. Hero x, UTG2 bets $12, LJ calls, hero raises $55. UTG2 calls, LJ fold.

Turn ($134): Qh. Hero x, UTG2 quickly checks back.

River ($134): Ad. Hero shoves $65 effective. UTG tank calls with J9 for chop.

I'm okay with my preflop and flop play, but unsure about turn and river. This is definitely a bad runout for my hand. On the flop when UTG2 flat calls my x/r and doesn't shove overtop with another player left to act that definitely narrows his range to strong holdings or a very gambly flush / straight draw. However, after checking back the turn where many draws come in I felt confident that villain didn't improve on the turn, and that I likely have the best hand. Villalin is so short that the only river bet sizing is all in. Thinking in the moment is that V being so short, I'm going for max value from one pair hands that feel pot committed.

Now I think this board is just so wet, and V x/c on the flop is so strong that river bet is a punt, and was lucky to chop. The only confusing part is that since this was an UTG limp, I have a hard time giving villain any strong combos that would hit this runout. Please feel free to offer comments, criticism, etc. Thanks as always.

One question. Are you ever folding if your x/r is called? If the answer is no just jam the flop itself. Hands that call you and you beat are likely combo draws, or a heroing Kx. Make less mistakes OOP and charge the draws the max. Personally i think you overplayed your hand, and hate the river bluff.

What hands that beat you fold if he calls with J9, and what behind you calls?

Thanks for your thoughts. I want to clarify this hand history because it’s unclear. UTG2 villain was the effective stack of $120. LJ villain and hero are about $400 deep. So a x/shove is out of the question. However a x/r to a larger sizing might have been better on the flop? And I agree that I massively overplayed turn and river, and am probably in x/fold mode on those streets.

I don’t think you beat anything that calls the river.
You need to plan your betting. Idk how much LJ had but you left yourself <1/2 pot behind when utg plus 2 calls. What was your plan?

I prefer betting ourselves on the flop instead of check raising. Limpers didnt limp to fold a gutshot or a pair on the flop for $10-$15, and check/raising folds out a big % of the second best hands we want a call from. As played i think check with the intention of folding on both turn and river. If you had Jh in your hand Jam turn.
