5/5 NL

Hero in UTG+1 with AQdd ($500)
Hero raises to $20
UTG+2, LJ, CO ($450), button (maniac) ($2000), BB calls

Flop ($120):
765xdd

Checks to CO who bets $75
Button and hero call

Turn ($345):
Jh

Checks to button who bets $280

Hero ???

Button has played every hand possible and calling raises with almost anything (suited hands, hands containing one high card, etc)

Not getting the best price or correct odds, but is there ever a reason to contemplate a call with a player left to act and facing a maniac in particular? Should I have done something differently on an earlier street?

What was your thinking behind the flop check?

As the PFR, I'd be inclined to lead out with the nut flush draw... we have sooooo much equity multi-way plus the two overs

Given that there's a maniac in the hand, at this stack depth, you could consider check/shoving the flop

I think x/c is the worst line, for precisely this reason

The flop should connect with the pre-flop callers ranges much more than it does mine. Yes, I have all the equity in the world including two overs, but to thin the field with 5 other players in the hand with this board texture seems optimistic at best in California.

I did consider a check shove, but the issue was the CO who was the initial raiser. He was an older Asian gentleman who was playing his hands very straightforward and raised on the larger side when he had it. Or if he had AA lol.

If it was just myself and the button I can definitely get behind that option, but as played on the turn I don't see myself getting the correct odds so just a sigh fold.

Given this is a good stack depth to x/jam an overpair, it’s also a good one to x/jam overcards and NFD.

Now you probably have to fold. This is the problem with playing draws passively, especially OOP. You think you’ll get two shots when you pay the flop bet, but you really just get one.

Edit: saw your read. This guy may have a stronger range than average and not just have T8o. Makes your line much more agreeable to me.
