1/2 live.

Hero is the effective stack with $250.

Table is almost all OMC who won't play unless you make it cheap pre. The one exception is an overly agro Asian kid in the BB. He's not a pro, I assume he's beating the game but he's too spewy and calls down a little too light for him to be super profitable from the few days I've played with him.

I open AKss +2 to $8, OMC button calls and BB calls.

Flop: KJ4r. one spade.

Pot: $34

Villain leads for $15.

Hero??? Hero calls button folds. I don't think he almost ever flats KK or JJ pre. I don't hate raising for value but we definitely aren't raising for info because he can definitely just ship it with QT.

Turn Tr.

Villain bets $30

Hero? Hero calls. Really bad turn though, I strongly considered a fold and against someone else it's a snap fold. I still beat QT, the most likely non-value hand.

River is a 9 so I make the easy fold after he bets something like $70

These situations are always a pain without a read on villain because it isn't clear how to react or what their range is. If villain donks good hands you can fold, if the donk draws you can call or raise and if they donk weak made hands you can call or even bluff raise. If they can donk total bluffs then call or raise but few will do that.

Overall I like your line without a better read on villain. You are chopping with AK and the rest of the strong hands still beat you, If he is donking a weak made hand then it probably has a queen so the weak made hands and likely draws both get there by river.

OMC's just auto-bet with high pairs, so his likely range is KQ, AK, AJ, maybe QJ, that kinda stuff. They also definitely flat with JJ preflop, so I think your line is ok. If you raise for value to tax that other range of hands he's probably just folding so i think letting him "BeT FoR iNfO" is ok, as is folding river with the straight hits.

I like to look at % of pot when evaluating a bet. Even though weak players don't calculate the % they want to bet before betting, they do tend to have a feel for "large" bet and "small" bet. In this situation,

Flop: 44%
Turn: 48% (minus rake)
River: 56%

Subconsciously, he's increasing his bet size each street, which means he's getting more confident that he has a winner. Against an unknown, I'd play it the way you did. As QuadJ said, if you knew more you could play it better. Against an OMC, I'd fold on the turn.

Raise flop for value to $55. This kid can have anything and we want to punish his donk bet.
