Villain - Competent young Asian kid, who has been very active but calculated in many spots. By no means has done anything "crazy" but very aggressive especially when his opponents are capped. Has stack size awareness and bet sizing appears to be optimal.

Hero - My image is definitely very tight since the villain sat down (2hours ago). Been pretty much card dead besides some button calls and BB defends. There hasn't been an established dynamic between villain and I yet.

OTH 1/3 NLH

Effective stack (villain) roughly $600.00

UTG (straddle) $6.00

folds to villain

Villain (MP) raises to $25.00

folds to hero in SB

Hero (SB) QQ - 3bets to $100.00

folds back to villain

Villain - instant jams $575.00 total

Given my image, I really felt villain thought he would just get paid off with me at the top of my range since he was nutted.

Easy call ? I really hate 3bet folding here but I have not been active what so ever and villain has not shown this type of preflop aggression to this extent.

Thoughts ????

Also, if we are not calling a 4bet rip, should we be even 3betting this preflop then? Flatting seems terrible but 3 bet folding to a 4bet jam seems ugly as well.

Fold here is good. Stacking off 200 blinds with QQ in this spot with described dynamics is not something i want to do. Villain has no reason whatsoever to believe you are 3 betting light.

3 bet /folding to the 4 bet is perfectly fine. You 3 bet for value, but when you get more information that you may be in trouble (4 bet shove), its time to let it go.

If he is competent and you have a tight image, he will realize that your 4x 3-bet from the SB is ultra strong. It’s gross but I can’t see this being anything but AK/KK/AA.

You can’t regret 3-betting in hindsight with the third best hand in holdem. He sometimes folds and sometimes calls too.

Most players won't ship aa in this spot. It's likely AK kk or JJ. If we're rolled for the game then I'm calling it off. We're only 100bb deep with the straddle so folding QQ becomes problematic really quickly

There isnt anything wrong with 3bet folding if you think it's only aa and kk but v doesn't seem like that type of player. We should have plenty of value 3bet then fold hands. Try not to think about poker the way you describe in OP

If you know for sure he has AK in his range, it's barely a call. I would discount AK from someone who I haven't seen in this spot and make it a fold. Regardless, I think the spot is pretty marginal either way.

The instashove from a thinking player is more a sign of weakness than strength IMO. Weakness in this instance means AK or perhaps KK, but not AA.

I probably fold in game, but based on your description, I think it's a call, because he shows up with AK a ton of the time.

grunch with the straddle I snap…with stacks the way they are some times he may flat AA and just one of those spots…it’s not super +EV so if you folded it’s not the worst but if you are rolled just flick it in…more interesting if there was no straddle IMO
