Stakes 2/4NL
Location: Private game, first time it has run.
9 handed at the time, table in general has been tighter pre-flop than most typical 2/4 tables.
2-7 game is on for 1BB per person, winner of each hand must show one card regardless of whether or not the hand reaches showdown.
Hero ($550): Young Indian, probably seem a bit spewy by most players after value-owning myself with TPGK or second-pair against stations heads-up.
Villain (Covers): Mid-20s white guy, appears to be playing a very straight forwards TAG style, but with less bluffing than a tag would do. Has generally been showing TPGK+ all night, and doubled through hero earlier tonight after flopping a set in a 3B pot against hero's KK. I suspect that he has been able to realise that I'm not as spewy as the rest of the table has thought. He has tended to bet smaller for value with strong but non-nutty hands. He also clearly understands relative hand strength.
Relevant hand involving V:
3 loose-passive players limp to V in BB with 75o, who checks. Flop is KJ5r, checked through.
Turn is 5x, V pots ($16), one LP player calls.
River 8x, V bets $40, LP raises to $85. V says it's a gross spot but he can't fold for that price. LP shows A5s to win.
Onto the hand itself:
Hero is UTG with 2
2
and opens to $16.
Folded to V in CO who calls. BB (transparent player, fit/fold post-flop) calls as well.
Flop ($50): J
J
4
BB checks, hero c-bets $32, V thinks for a moment then calls. BB folds.
At this point I'm ranging V for any pair from 55-TT, as well as some Jx and the NFD.
Turn ($112): K
Hero bets $60, V thinks for a bit longer than he did on the flop and then calls.
At this point, the only hand he's continuing on the turn with is going to be Jx, because he's folding all pocket pairs, and a lot of his FDs here.
River ($232): 9
Hero checks, V bets $75, Hero c/r to $250.
Thoughts?
I'll post results and my river thought process after some discussion.
