Went played 1/2 at local poker room.Got cold cards for a hour and half.
I bought in for $100 i got dealt KQs i was down to $70 th button straddle for $4
i was UTG i called that the button raised $30 loose passive player to his right called the $30 i folded he was a rock for the hour and half i watched him.Put him on aa kk ak aq i felt if i hit k or q i was dominated. So i made a fold

Flop KQ2 im like fcukk theres about $70 in the pot
The button raised $40 loose player called turn comes q OMG I FOLED Boat!
so button bets $75 player folds Button shows 52 off
Omg i cant get over this hand was it stupid to fold kq out of position to a rock?
pot was like $250

good fold. don't be results oriented. Funny that more or less this exact situation happened to me to this weekend. Folding this to a rock is proper. well played.

Really should look to sit with 100bb, means that you have more room to play hands than when you are sitting with 50bb (25bb if a straddle pot). If you continue to want to buy in for $100, you really should at least top up to that amount.

As played with $70 and a $4 straddle, we really shouldnt be limping any hand UTG, we need to be raising or folding.

As played, folding is fine and is the right thing to do. Once you fold, dont sweat the board.

I personally rarely limp in early position with KQ unless the table is super weak. Also, if there is a straddle, I notice the straddler will raise regaurdless if it is a limped pot. So why get involved with a trouble hand? It is a nice strat if you ask me. Get 3 limpers... then the blinds limp, that's 20 bucks ripe for the taking. If you are going to get involved in a straddled pot, be ready to survive the raise.

Hey everyone thanks for early repsponse you guys are right about the raising or folding. But i know KQ is trobel hand and i just felt Dominated i said if a kq or falls i have no clue if im ahead or behind.
I mean how do you not put a rock who i have no seen raise that big in almost 2 hours on AA KK QQ AK? i felt like it was the nit thing to do and i agree with the 200BB somtimes i just like saving extra bullets for rainy days.
I relly dont have a LIVE bank roll kinda hard to save $1-3 k to play so i always took shots stupid i know lol

No worries. Play at the buy-in you feel most comfortable. I play short stack plenty of times at the poker table. I don't think that should be the main part of this analysis. I think, however, if you are going to play short stack poker, you must play more TAG then you think because with one missed step, your done. Find spots to get it in good, then play deep with opm.

+1. Fold should be easy. You could have hit a boat w/ 7 deuce also.

First, if your going to short stack, try to at least bring another $100 to keep your stack around 50BB. But, great fold in my opinion. You have to just let the hand go, and move on to the next one. Your going to see a lot of flops you could have hit hard when you fold, but that doesn't mean you should be calling raises with those hands. Also, being card dead for an hour and a half isn't bad live either. It may suck, but you can be card dead for hours, finally catch a hand, then get coolered. When you can shrug that off, and understand that's part of the game. Then your on your way to being a more disciplined player with a better win rate.

some real bad logic and play in this original post. i suggest u read the main stickies, learn to never limp, put enemies on ranges, buyin full, top off, not be results oriented, not play kq in early position, and the rest you can learn from the stickies, like value betting and baluga

Lol, we have 17bb, I'm def putting all of my money in here with KQs. Make it $18 and dont fold to a raise, and jam all flops.

You shouldn't be upset at how the flop came, but you should be upset that your read was terribly off. Someone going balls to the wall with 52 here is never a rock.

Like if I fold QQ pre and the flop comes QQx, and villains had AA and KK, I'm still happy I made a good fold.

By the same token if I folded QQ and flop came 88x and villain had 88, I'm upset that I folded. Do you understand?

So two things to take away from this are 1) go balls to the wall with broadways/pp's when short stacked and 2) don't care what the outcome of the hand would have been, be concerned with the outcome of your range analysis
