$1/3 just got assigned a seat and am walking towards the table. Dealer is starting to deal so I say "hey Rob, I'm in seat 8" so Rob the dealer deals me in. I have $300 in a rack walking to the table. I'm in LP and when I get to the table it's on me, UTG had raised to $8, 1 caller. I'm standing behind the seat and toss the dealer my players card and look down and find pocket A's. Don't think I've ever had that happen quite like that before. I make it $30, very standard I presume, get 1 caller and take it down with c-bet on a 762 flop.

Later I'm thinking I wonder if an open shove straight out of the rack would have been smart, maybe induce a light call or at least set up a loose or fully donkey image.

Would anyone else play this in a non-standard fashion because you haven't even taken a seat yet?

Probably doesn't work often enough.

Not without previous history.

Now if you said "I know some of these people and I have a bit of a gamble / agro /fishy image" then could be fun / good.

I think a flop shove in this case is more inducing. Maybe crack a joke when you do it also.

Was the other guy who went to flop short stacked?

“Let’s do it all” and slide the rack across the line

Nothing cooler than sliding a rack full of chips all in.

Funny, I just commented in another thread how HOC would recommend considering making a huge lol overbet or even shove here. In my reg filled rooms where everyone knows everyone, that wouldn't work (unless you have a well known maniac image). But if you're an unknown, and maybe have a certain crazy look about you (as opposed to an OMC look), it might not be a bad concept, although I'd typically just lean to a slight overbet.

FWIW, I would have raised to more like $50. $8 is mostly a juicer bet with a speculative hand at my table, and our smallish 3bet to $30 gave him about 14+:1 odds to call, which ain't bad considering it's unlikely we'll be able to get away from AA in a SPR ~4 pot.

If you had an empty bottle in your hand and you slurd a bit it may have worked Does anyone FPS this?

I reminisce to the good old days of teh internet pokerz when I read posts like this.... nothing better than sitting down with unknowns and 3bet shoving with AA on your first hand.
