I somewhat agree (but see the story below). Also there's this thing called male ego. Low egos would generally give unknown girls more respect, whereas big egos would give girls more action.

I once sat down at a table and got KQs in the first hand. Limped to me in the BB and I raised. Folded to the BTN (reg, decent player) and he said 'Really? First hand?" then called. I cbet when flop came out and he snap raised me without even looking at the flop... :s Some guys just don't like to be outplayed by girls.

I think there might actually be a correlation between skill and ego (i.e. good players know they should put their ego aside if they want to play solid poker, so they put down their ego and play better and better; whereas bad players let ego drive their decision, hence play worse and worse).
