Do you ever just dark barrel bluff? Do you ever just dark barrel bluff?

OK. This hand was weird, I'll try and get to the bottom of it quickly. I've really shyed away in the past couple years from just continuing to barrel people on the calling machine side; but this hand came up last night and I really wanted to take a look at it.

3 handed last night 2/5/T
Bb is a calling station pre, playing like 80% of hands, 75% limp/calls 25% raises

We are around 1800 eff

I BTN straddle, folds to him, he limps

I have Jd9s raise to 40, he calls

Flop Ah 5h 3d
He checks, I bet 65, he calls

Turn Kc, pot 210
He checks, I bet $170, he calls

River Qh, pot 550
He checks

I'm sitting here kinda just wanting to rip it for like 300-550

Take these reads as goood
-after calling two streets he always has at least 1 pair by the river
-I think he has basically no Ax bc he has been raising w all of them pre, or would've c/r them already at some point in the hand
-He has been frequently c/r draws flushes are drastically discounted, unless they're some random 8-6 high weird ones, he can pretty much have all combos.
-He can probably have some Kx, may hero it.
-He can have Q5, Q3
-I'm not at all confident that he can hand read well enough to realize that we can put all these things together and realize that his range is normally garbage w the c/c c/c line.
-I don't think he's on the level of realizing that we've seen him be a complete calling machine, so river bet SHOULD normally be for value, he may realize it a little bit though, and our range in actuality here for b/b/B IS in actuality very strong here.
-I think we finally get the fold from all 5x, 3x and 66-99 (I don't think TT and JJ possibilities by the river) if we do pull the trigger

Do we barrel it, or give up against a semi calling machine?

How does he think you would play a flush draw?

Tbh I'm not exactly sure how he processes that. I'm sure that he knows I'm capable of betting a flush draw twice. I think he's acutely aware that I would definitely have all Kxhh here, I think he thinks that I would also have Broadway HH combos, but doesn't quite get that the Q killed a lot of them, kinda one of those deals.

In short I think he's capable of giving me a lot of flushes here.

In reality I'm probably betting turn w all those ones I talked about above+all fd+sd and fd+pair combos, checking back a lot of the gapped Tx- flush draws around 50% of the time. The fact that I thought he had absolutely no Ax ott, and that I definitely have a ton of them, is making me bet a ton there.

I don't necessarily like that I got into this position. But I can see how is pf play and passive stickiness got us here. He only has to fold 1/3 times on a PSB, right? And you certainly could have a flush or strong 2p here. Bombs away

PSB needs 50% folds to break even

V looks to be a giant calling station fish. I'd give up OTT.

I think hero's sizing is a little big. I'd raise $30 pre, and c-bet $40.

OP your literally 3-barreling the calling station... This is like trying to bluff the drunk guy at the table and then getting pissed when they snap you off with mid pair.

Stop bluffing the calling station and 3 street value next time. Patience wins a lot more dollars than trying to force a bad spot.

check down the riv as played

I'm more likely to size it to $60 pre than I am to $40, and also think BDFlush is on point.

trying to get the calling station to fold top pair of aces doesn't sound like a good idea.

If you're betting this turn and you claim he has 0 aces in his range (doubtful) you absolutely have to mash this river. Unless he is whale fish he has to fold.

Once I put someone on top pair, I would usually only consider trying to bluff them if there is three to a flush, four to a straight, or a pair on the board. I would have given up on the turn here, but the possible flush on the river makes a bluff feasible again.
