Grunch. This is a fist pump call. Sure he can have sets. But I expect him to mostly raise 88 and especially 99 given he's in the HJ. So maybe one combo of 88 and like half a combo of 99 in addition to the full three combos of 33. 98s will be part of his range. That's three combos. I doubt 98o calls $50 pre and if it does, you have a great seat. So you're beat by 7.5 combos (let's just call it 8 combos). He can also have of course limp called JJ+ which is super weird and rare that I think it's safe to ignore that. What else can he have? Certainly more than 8 combos of flush draws because most of them will have overcards/straight draws. He can also have 9x. A9s K9s 97s. A9o if he's really bad. Can also have JT no flush draw. QT no flush draw. QJ no flush draw. 76s. I'm not even gonna count the number of combos you're ahead of cause it's a huge number.

It is pretty clear that you're playing scared money at 2/5 and I'm glad you recognize that. A lot of people wouldn't admit that. I would stick to 1/2 and 1/3 until you can play 2/5 not scared money.

This. And also raise more pre.

Board is way to draw heavy to fold an overpair getting the price you are getting. If he has 89 or a set so be it.

I definitely feel like our pfr is light, especially for what sounds like an action game and table with the straddle on. As already mentioned, it makes our calls on shoves much better mathematically but it also gives us a better opportunity to just take down the pot pre (which at $37 with no sweat is no small thing).
