Well yes, your not likely to flop the second best straight. I was talking about the situation when you get to the river. It's more likely people are drawing to a better straight and you don't block the cards they need much.
On a 467 board any run out with a 5, 8, 9 or T is dangerous. More commonly though you have situations where you get something like 468 or a 4 card board like 2478 and you have no idea what cards are good/safe for you.
Compare that to T8 on a 976 board. The only 2 really bad cards are a T or 8 and you block both of those.
