FWIW...

Never ask for a mucked hand to be retrieved from the muck pile so you can see it. Bad etiquette and if by some weird outcome you happened to pull from the muck a hand that beats you, you will actually lose the pot.

Your mistake of folding the river is probably a less bad mistake than his entire line
