I figured my equity in the hand was good, plus he had made some loose plays in the past. Sorry for the lack of detail or how i'm writing this out, first time poster. Thanks for the input
Welcome to 2+2, everything you need to be a winnning player is on this site. Please read the stickies and posting guidelines as well as some other posts
The mistake recreational players make is that they insist on using the results of a particular hand or situation as the judge for whether or not the correct play was made.
If you win, then you played correctly. If you lose, then you played incorrectly.
That is not the correct way to think about poker.
It is possible to make the correct long term +EV play and lose a particular hand.
It is possible to make the incorrect long term -EV play and win a particular hand.
in the case of the above, a winning player is going broke every time because the correct +EV play is to bet turn to extract value from all draws and to bet river to extract value from lessor fullhouses, straights, trips, and flushes.
95% of the time we should win in the above spot
5% of the time we will lose.
You just happened to encounter that 5%.
Anyways, if you stick around, it will take you a few months to get a handle on all of this and once you do, you will make some serious money.
good luck...
