thoughts?

COTM seems like a good idea. id be willing to write one of others were interested in contributing to getting it started again. May just flesh out the "how to play LAG" post I put in the other thread. or do something completely different if someone has suggestions.

That's a good idea, but I think it might fall into the category of thin value betting.

I really like this idea as well as I struggle with it and since I play too many hands (boredom) I find myself in this position alot... ex we flop bottom 2 on wet board / medium pair when opponent is betting tiny in relation to the pot.

^ bottom two is usually well above "medium strength" imo. middle pair... thats closer.

99% of our villains don't pay attention and only play they're own two cards.

We should do a COTM vote thread where we vote for people to write a COTM

The problem is nobody wants to write one. Then on top of that, putting good material into words which is really hard.

Maybe Pokah should write a COTM. That will keep him busy.

I was half joking and half serious. His thought process is definitely interesting and he actually has picked up some wisdom.

yeah you can definitely tell that he has become a much better poker player in the past several months, and writing stuff really improves your thought process.

I'd be willing to write another one but don't really know what I'd write about. We already had one on bet sizing.

can I write one on EV thoughts?

basically

a session is a gimmick and a minus ev thought
don't focus on winning or losing, only on making the proper play
understanding that how one hands cards ran out has no effect on how another will run out

I'd be interested in this topic---strategies to help avoid focusing on results during a "session". Whether we should be thinking in terms of "sessions" at all is a fascinating idea too. Surely we need to think in terms of some kind of "period" in order to gauge progress, though.

Might be possible to include something on a "risk-neutral" mindset, as well, so that players are encouraged to focus on making the correct decision rather than worrying about how much they might lose in any given hand or session.
