I would like to see something on tilt - specifically, how to make money from it!

I think more people would benefit from "Tilt -- How not to lose your roll".

I don't see there being enough discussion created about 'rake.' Maybe some whining, some comparisons, some horror stories but it's not like u can avoid it...

How about 'live' etiquette (or how not to look like a douche.)

Making good observations (what to look for, etc)

How to deal with 'passive' tables

What to do when facing a maniac (and the different types of manics u'll encounter)

Moving up in stakes (requirements, differences and so on)

How to annoy a moderator with all kinds of suggestions but no offer to write any COTM

Is there any reason to do etiquette that hasn't been covered the first time?

I know the thread is in a different forum, but is that enough reason to duplicate it?

I'm not a regular contributor to the board but am a very regular reader so don't know how much respect I'll get but I think I could make a valuable contribution to the 'taking poker more seriously' topic in October.

I play live pretty regularly- not as much as I'd like- but am very anal about my record- keeping of all my sessions, whether they be tournaments or cash games (I have a very detailed excel spreadsheet recording all sessions in quite detail).

I would be happy to add to Ashley12's topic if (s)he thinks it would add any value.

also, is there anywhere where there is this discussion of keeping records of live sessions already as I would like to compare and contrast my method against others...

Check the Official Winrates, Bankrolls, and other Finances thread... tons of info in there. Its probably on page 2 or 3 of this forum.

I would be more then willing for people who want to add miniture points to the October COTM in learning to improve. Also, I wouldnt mind if someone wanted to do a section on moving up in stakes from, for example 1/2 to 2/5, and then on to various 5/5, 5/10 games etc... My local cardroom in Australia only spreads two NL games, a 2/3 200max and a 5/5 500max, with the occasional bigger game when it merits it such as tournament days... Im at the bottom game taking shots at the bigger one, and as such my experience in moving up from game to game from within the cardroom is limited...

And FYI, Im a guy...

OK, I thought that understanding rake/vig was an important concept for any players, but I'm coming around to the idea that it is not very popular and probably not enough for an extended discussion.

Here's the new plan: If anyone can come up with a good topic in the next week and is willing to write it I will swap out boring ol' "rake" and you can get on the schedule immediately. If no one steps up, I'll pen the article on rake myself.

Alright, will just shoot me a PM when you are ready to post it. I will get with JLoc after that. If you want someone to go over it I suggest Percula as his skills with the writing are pretty good... Sorry Perc you've been nominated...

An update....

I only just got back from a holiday in Adelaide, Australia yesterday. As such, I have things to do plus I have a busy weekend.

The COTM should be up by Tuesday.... Its 70% done, but still needs to be edited pretty severely, which I will probably do sometime this weekend...

I wouldn't mind an article about moving up... but what I really want is maybe something more about strategy.

maybe something like "things it took me a while to learn" article by a long term winning 2/5+ reg player/2p2er would be the most beneficial for me.

This may be premature, but I was thinking that we should have someone do a well/random shyt type thread. Has to be a LLSNL reg poster and someone that the LLSNL community respects. I have a couple in mind, but wont mention it yet. A well is a little more goofy, but if we mixed it in with a random shyt/things it took me a while to learn I think it would be a good read.

Thoughts?

btw I asked JLoc to unsticky the current COTM and PAHWM... getting tired of looking at them.
